Anyone know if this release will be region free? Amazon Uk has it for 18 GBP. Also Amazing Spiderman for 20 GBP which is listed as region free.

I find it curious they've announced the details for the French version. They certainly are keeping a tight lid. As you can see from previous posts though, I think we should be satisfied with the final product. I hope anyways..

This is FOX and it's a new title which they usually lock in the past. But they seem to ease up a bit lately, my guess is as good as yours now.

As far as a 'Extendd Cut", I found this dated June 11th with Collider.....

If you found yourself enjoying Prometheus this weekend as much as we did, then we have some good news for you. According to an interview with Collider, director Ridley Scott revealed that there will be an extended cut of the movie on Blu-Ray that will add 20-30 minutes of footage to the theatrical release.

When asked about the differences in the cuts, Scott said, "This is fundamentally the director’s cut. But there will be half an hour of stuff on the menu because people are so into films—how they’re made, how they’re set up, and the rejections in it. That’s why it’s fascinating. So this will all go on to the menu."

He went back and forth depending on the interview. Sometimes he said they'd be deleted scenes on the menu, other times he said there'd be a longer cut. I really wish they'd just put us out of our misery and release the final specs already.

In an interview on June 8 he also said that there would be deleted scenes that would be accessed through the menu, but no director's cut.

Prometheus - No Extended Cut for now

Prometheus, the long awaited epic by Ridley Scott, creator of Alien, had fans puzzled beforehand as to whether it's going to be an own movie or a prequel to the Alien franchise. We will not discuss the key plot elements at this point (so be cautious when reading the comment section).

While the film was still in theaters, Ridley Scott confirmed that he's working on an Extended Cut that runs approx. 20 minutes longer. However, with the DVD and Blu-ray coming out soon, fans have to start hoping again since the first releases do not contain a longer cut of the movie. The announcements list enormous amounts of deleted scenes and other bonus materials, though. It's safe to say that the DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D will only feature the R-Rated theatrical cut. At least for now.

It remains unclear what that means for the future. Scott likes to do Extended Cuts of his movies frequently, e.g. Robin Hood (2010), Alien or Kingdom of Heaven. The latter two got the prolonged version some time after the theatrical cut was already released. Let's hope that this strategy will be used for Prometheus, too.

Honestly, I know it may just be wishful thinking but this confirms nothing! They are just basing this off of the specs that were already revealed awhile back on the French release. Until someone actually has the US disc on hand there is still hope

I do think it's interesting that this movie is very hit or miss. A lot of movies can be labeled as just "ok" but seems this movie is either loved or hated. Granted amazon is not exactly credible sometimes, but this movie has the most five stars followed by the most one stars. Regardless, I'll be picking this up day one.
