10/11/12 has been significant since Prometheus has been released. A week or two later, it doesn't matter. We've got full details on movies like Lawrence of Arabia due out in November.

Italy. Prometheus opens there on 9/14.

I expect the blu-ray details will be released shortly afterwards.

I think you're correct.

If you guys recall, this Best Buy promotional image surfaced on the web a couple weeks ago:

It states that the film will be available on CinemaNow at the time you pre-order the BD release. CinemaNow's website indicates that the film will be available from them starting on Tuesday, September 19. I suspect that's our announcement date (or thereabouts), which would coincide with the theory that they're waiting until after the 9/14 release in Italy.

Regardless, though, it's still very strange to wait so long to announce it.

Haven't seen this posted yet in the last coupla pages...

Not sure if it's an exclusive to Future Shop in Canada as it doesn't say it is, but this is the 3D cover art they've posted. And I gotta say, I much prefer this one:

That one's gorgeous too. I'm dying to find out which of these we're actually getting. If I were to wager, I think the 2D Blu-ray will be the Engineer's head, and this will be our Collector's Edition cover art.

Either way, I'm overjoyed with the work Fox is putting into the design of the BD/DVD releases. It all looks really great. Again, I have to say I really like that they're stressing the Sci-Fi elements, whereas the theatrical campaign was stressing the horror aspect.

That would be great, this one is easily my favorite of them. I hope they make it official.

That's some of the best art for a new release I've seen in a long time. I'm really hoping this is what the US gets as well.

See https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=791

The release date has been official for several weeks: Oct 11 2012.

It is difficult to understand why you continue to think this is a rumor.

Seeing as the date was on all theatrical showings I wonder why only the US is getting it on that date with other countries getting it as early as October 3rd?

Good question. I'm reasonably sure the 10-11-12 U.S. release date was selected because that was the date Weyland Corp was incorporated as shown in the Weyland Corp Timeline on the Weyland web site. http://www.weylandindustries.com/timeline

So is it pretty much confirmed that we'll need to get the 4-disc 35-dollar version to get all the extras?

Yes. I don't have a 3D TV or player but, I'm still getting the collector's edition because I love the extras on Ridley Scott films.

Most likely not but, the 3D set will have the deleted scenes.

Hang on, so if I want to watch the extras, I have to get the 3D version with 4 discs?

Are they not releasing a 2 disc 2D blu ray set? (1 disc is the film, the 2nd disc is the extras)

From what I understand, there will be extras on the 2D version (on the same disc as the film), but there are additional extras that will only be available on the Collector's Edition (such as the documentary). I believe the deleted scenes will be available on the 2D version.

Yep, pretty much. I had the intention of getting Prometheus because of my assumption was that by watching the "behind the scenes" features I'd probably enjoy/appreciate the film a lot more but it turns out no extras, so there for, no buy. I can't justify buying something in a format I do not have, either.
