It has already been explained that Milburn and Fifield, due to exposure to the vapor of the "goo", have their judgment impaired and are clearly a bit disoriented and affected by it. This is confirmed by the sheet that has been posted many times in here, that show the side effects of exposure.

![]() How did Weyland Corp. acquire the partially translated page of the Engineer's Manual? They either went to LV-426 and found it, or David sent it back to HQ via some means of communication accessible to him in the lifeboat or on the Engineer ship. This implies David found a way to communicate with Weyland HQ and that he may not be 'free' after Peter Weyland's demise. If this is the case, it will complicate Shaw's mission to find the answers she seeks on Paradise. Remember, the Prometheus mission and followup to the mission is highly classified and has been from the beginning. I believe Scott & Co. are going to try to maintain Alien as canon. Also remember that it was revealed in the Ridleygrams on the BD that the signal from LV-223 was detected, but Weyland choose to leave that investigation for a later date. That Ridleygram may have been nothing more than a de Lauzirika "gotcha", but still.... This implies that the Nostromo redirect in Alien had been planned since they received the contact info from the Prometheus mission. Quote:

Curious, and I'm not trying to discredit the chart er anything but was it available at the time of the movies release or did it come out a while after? Just curious, because it got me thinking "I wonder if they whipped that chart up as some sort of excuse to explain that scene because of all the backlash it was getting...hmmm" To be honest, the deleted scene (Our First Alien) where they found the MUCH smaller version of the worm, IMO, wouldve made the later scene make a little more sense. Only because the little one seemed very peaceful and non-threatening so for him to fine a bigger one later...maybe he figured it would be similar. Unfortunately the dialogue was terribly forced in that scene, had they re-shot it I think they couldve made this entre situation work. |

David :"You can take your helmet off if you like, sir." Weyland : "Why?" David : "The air, is perfectly breathable." Weyland: "Are you sure?" David: "Positive" Shaw: "Wait, we still don't know how Holloway got infected, if it's in the air." David: "It's not." Shaw: "How do you know that?" Just after she asks this question, David gives her a look of assurance, but Shaw has a look of doubt. If it is in fact in the air, then there's enough time to pass during first contact for Shaw to have some type of infection, considering the fact that she lasts the entire film. |

I have a hard time believing they would manufacture something to put down "backlash" because frankly, there really hasn't been much backlash. Not sure when it was created. ![]() |

Don't you think Shaw and Ford would have been exposed when they were examining the decapitated head of the Engineer. Wasn't this Engineer infected, to the point where it began to bleed and give off some type of odor? What about the crew of the ship that went back to look for Fifield and Milburn. Their suits would have been exposed because all of the Ampules released a good portion of the black goo. Some of the crew were down on the ground examining Milburn's dead body before the Hammerpede catapulted from his mouth. IDK, I'm just not buying it. |

The Milburn scene is one that was brought up on numerous occasions and if it wasnt brought up directly I can't help but think that its one of the situations the "questionable/silly decisions" is referring to. I remember watching a video review for Prometheus, think it was at IGN maybe? But the reviewer, for the most part was positive towards the film, but he mentioned the Milburn scene and said something to the effect of "coooommme oooonnn...the guy actually tried to pet the thing and gets killed in the process" and one of the only other negative things he mentioned was the scene at the end (the Deacon)...he referred to it as "fanboy service" lol. |
