Dumb moves and logic gaps are what they are - you cant explain them away. When trillions of people clearly see the issues that weve pointed out, they are now accepted as tangible data. If the fanboys want to dig incredibly deep or refer to charts to justify their position then go for it. Many folks once thought the world was flat. They were damned sure of it too. Doesnt mean it was flat. And, what the hell does Chris Nolan have to do with this? Did he take part in making the film? BTW - I still liked and own the film and Im cautiously optimistic about the sequel. Last edited by s2mikey; 10-20-2012 at 03:07 PM. |

They should have left the deleted seen of him collecting the little lizard/slug thing in the film. That showed him as a biologist, collected an alien sample, not being afraid of it etc.
I was a much smaller alien of course, but at least would have made the later scene less jarring than the final cut--where he's running around scared all night, then goes right up to that thing. Shame Scott didn't do a director's cut, as I think the film would be a bit better with most of the deleted scenes intergrated--especially the two engineer ones. |

I don't know which is dumber:
[Show spoiler] There are just too many leaps in logic even for sci-fi for me to enjoy either films. If there would have been a directors cut that explained why they did such stupid things in Prometheus I might buy it. |

Prometheus boxoffice is $402.5 million. Average worldwide ticket price is around $7.71, so around 50 million people have seen Prometheus. You're as guilty of hyperbole as he was. ![]() |

I'm counting ghosts.
![]() Seriously though, I saw trillions and somehow that translated into my head as billions. I figured there would be a few movies that a billion or more people had seen at some point...Star Wars probably being the most likely candidate. Quote:

I actually can believe aspects of the [Show spoiler] scene. Look at the advances in medicine in the last 100 years. I don't think it's that hard to believe that such medicine would be possible several hundred years from now. What wasn't believable was that the computer [Show spoiler] There's a pretty good video on YouTube that attempts to explain plot points that some people are challenging as illogical. Check it out. The primary thing that bothers me about the film is [Show spoiler]

I purchased the 3D edition of this Blu-Ray and just watched the 2D version contained therein. After the credits finish scrolling up the screen my TV's screen stay's blank. It doesn't go back to the main menu. Can anyone explain this??

Yeah, but then that scene wouldn't have been as shocking and gruesome. Where's the fun in that?

During the initial briefing, Vickers mentions that she hired some of the mission crew and someone else (presumably Weyland) hired the others. Since the primary purpose of the mission was to extend Weyland's life we can presume that his hires were the mercenaries/soldiers that are there to protect him, and the Scottish woman who seems to be his doctor; and then there's David who is Weyland's right-hand "man". Since he wanted a "true believer" on the mission, we also know he brought on Shaw and Holloway. Who does leave for Vickers to hire? Possibly the ship's flight crew, but I'd say definitely the scientists Fifield and Milburn. Now, we know that Vickers doesn't want the mission to succeed and wants to return as soon as possible, and hiring incompetent/mercenary scientists seems like a good way to get the mission to fail and end quickly. As far as how small the crew is, we know this is a discrete mission based on the text "destination undisclosed" at the beginning. Easier to keep secrets with a small crew. |
