I dunno about one scene, as there's a slew of stuff on the Blu-ray which adds a whole lotta sense to the movie. They wouldn't magically turn it into a masterpiece because it's too ****ed for that, but it wouldn't be so bloody random either. And I liked how Shaw was more antagonistic towards David in the original version of the ending. They may have changed it because it was a bit too much like Ripley and Ash, but given all that David has done in the film I think Shaw has every right to be pissed off with him!

They're not too worried about the destination as long as you remember to pack your wallet!

I no longer have time for bad films. Watched Promie twice, and there shant be a third attempt. I'll ignore it in the Alien canon without hesitation.

^^^

Thanks for sharing this information. With the last comments posted today, I decided to pop the disc up and re-watch the movie. I still have some issues with the movie, but man in terms of production, visuals, audio and some really good scenes, I still think this is a really cool SiFi movie.

Prometheus exercises the mind. If you don't want to exercise your mind, you can always watch Transformers or Starship Troopers.

Stretching the mind fills the plot holes. Which of these bothers you the most?

If you read the source material, Starship Troopers surprisingly becomes rather thought provoking .

I really like Prometheus, but the 'watch Transformers if you like your films stupid' argument has been done to death and Starship Troopers is a satire.

Actually, you should exercise your mind daily - in life. I do, so I don't have to pretend that a movie could do a better job of it. Besides, I happen to like the Transformers films, they're fun.

Pretentious? Depends on how you interpret the emoticon. My comment is pragmatic. If you want pretentious, try Terrence Malick's To The Wonder.

The source might be, but the movie isn't.

Both are mindless entertainment, not that there is anything wrong with that.

Didn't say they weren't fun; just not thought provoking. A film is thought provoking if it causes extended discussion. Prometheus did that.

Actually it/they did cause buku "extended discussion". I've never seen so much discussion about whether or not they were any good, how horrible they were, how bad the CGI was, how lame the director was, how hot Meagan Fox was/wasn't, how hot/lame Rosie was, how hot/lame people who liked the chicks or the flicks were, etc ... Hey, it's/they've been a veritable gold mine of extended discussion - not exactly high intellectual discussion, but you just said "extended" ... And besides, I found Meagan Fox to be very provoking, especially in the first film.

Reality and perception differ. Using the Blu-ray.com official threads for Transformers and Prometheus and the main thread for Starship Troopers (no official thread) and keeping in mind that the threads for Transformers and Starship Troopers were started several years before the Prometheus thread:

Starship Troopers: 126 replies
Transformers: 1,066 replies
Prometheus: 5,833 replies

Actually, there are over 16 different Transformers threads , with well over 12,000 replies (and they can't all be about Meagan Fox, can they? ). And, really, as you know, this Prometheus thread is over-run with haters of the flick - and many of the lovers vs. haters posts are not enlightened discussions. But, hey, enjoy, I don't judge a flick's relevance by how many people post about it - that's as useless as believing that the vote totals for MLBs All-Star Game mean anything.

I try not to hate on movies because it's absurd. People rarely change their minds in thread discussions. Besides, there's no accounting for taste, or the lack thereof. People like what they like, and who am I to judge? I like a lot of movies that people roll their eyes at and I don't give a f**k because who cares what they think - and most of them feel the same way. So I just try to share a laugh and have some fun. Like the Joker said : Why So Serious?

Naaah, Malick is just doing documentaries about nature. And he throws in some narrating and acting in there.
