Hi guys, I'm a little late to the party
![]() Can someone please tell me which edition is overally the best so far ? Is there any release out which has 16:9 ratio (or something close to it), as I prefer 16:9 .. ? Also, I read somewhere that the UK edition is a steelbook, but I opened their product page, and there's no mention of a steelbook anywhere .. |

Another thing mate. Is the case a standard US case or is it more like the UK/AU cases in thickness?

Ya, it could be French written, but also might be the same steelbook all around the world, as I've seen the asia version of the steelbooks are also the same design. But kind of odd, that France Amazon is showing somehow a little bit different of an artwork, but I assume it would be the same as the UK one?

+1 with everything you said. To be honest, I think Fox has done a mighty fine job getting a rather comprehensive Blu-ray release of this movie with multiple versions (2D, 3D), tie-ins (Target booklet + bonus disc, "Art of Prometheus" book), HD movie download and quite a foray of extra features on the Blu-ray discs (more so on the 3D than 2D version). Of course not every fan will be pleased, but when a movie studio knows that selling physical (and to an extent, digital) media, the movie adds a lot more money back. So everyone, quit your complaining. It's obvious that if you want more bonus features, then you have to pay more for the 3D version. If you're happy with just the minimal bonus features, don't care for 3D or would only pay for the 2D version, then get that and quit complaining that you're not getting ALL the features on the 3D version. The 3D version is marketed as a more comprehensive media. So it's logical people will pay more for the media with more features. Just like buying the standard model car with just a few features as standard. But if you want all the luxury/GPS/camera/leather/options of the same car, then you pay more. It's quite simple. |

Getting a Director's Cut vs. the Theatrical version has NOTHING to do with the amount of extras that will be on the package. As much as I like extras, this will still be a missed opportunity for me personally. First, sir Ridley DID say there was going to be a longer cut back when the film was in theaters. Obviously he (or someone) changed his mind and decided to just show us the cut footage as extras. But this isn't even why I'm hesitant to call this the "Ultimate Edition". I was one of those who were underwhelmed by the final film and thought it felt incomplete. An extended version, I feel, would "flesh out" the film a little more. The film was good. But I think they probably cut it down to fit more slots in theaters, which I believe should be the LAST reason why a film should be "compromised". I feel an extended cut would turn a good film into a great one and we won't be getting that on October 11th.

I know it's a bit greedy, but I do hope to see some of the actual pics of the release, oh, are you getting the steelbook? Looking forward to see it, if you could share out here. Appreciate~ =D Last edited by iszac; 09-30-2012 at 02:41 PM. |

The rumours of a Directors Cut came from a single interview and even in that Ridley states he is happy with the current cut and that the future blu-ray release may have extra footage or the footage would be available from the menu and that is exactly what we have got.

I saw this over at TG Daily posted Sept 29th about the 2D & 3D Blu-Ray versions. Pretty interesting about Scott's remarks about the camera used in the film....
http://www.tgdaily.com/entertainment...-gets-official On both Collider and The Playlist, Scott also talked about returning to sci-fi, and making the movie in 3D with the state of the art RED camera. The RED is a hi-def digital camera, and with film going out of business, it will probably be the camera of choice in the future. As Scott said, Prometheus was his first trip back into science fiction in thirty years, "and because it’s science fiction, I have to do 3D, and the RED is the only choice. I’d never done 3D before, I’d never done RED before, and I [hadn’t] done digital before. I thought I was a film man. I like things sharp and crisp. I went to a demonstration at the RED studios where they showed me the capability of how the RED can capture the smallest of light sources and still retain its sharpness and density. I was blown away." |

The 4 disc edition arrived in stores here in Santiago, Chile last Thursday afternoon and I picked mine on Friday. I was unaware of the target exclusive booklet so I was pleasantly surprised they imported those copies here. I'd have prefered a 2 blus edition but with Ridley I have to have the extras. I don't mind that much about the 3D disc. Who knows? One day I may get one of those tv's to enjoy Dial M For Murder, The Hobbit and this on 3D but the extra dvd is such a crappy ploy. Why would anyone who's gone blu want an SD disc?
