Here's the video where people apparently think Ridley is confirming a longer cut:

There's a couple relevant statements in this interview:

"This is it. Normally with me...it's a ploy...normally with me, it's the version that's released - except for Kingdom of Heaven. That was a mistake on my part. I should have kept the long version."

"This is fundamentally a Director's Cut. There'll be half an hour of stuff on the menu because people are so into films, how they're made, how their set up, and the rejections in it - and I think the menu, that's why it's fascinating. So this'll all go into the menu."

Q: "You're obviously going to do an extended cut for the Blu-ray/DVD. Is it a lot longer?"
Ridley: "Umm...20 minutes."
Q: "Oh, so there's like 20 minutes that will be added back in for a longer version?"
Ridley: Maybe. But I'm so happy with this engine the way it is right now. I think it's fine. I think it works. I wouldn't do that. It can go in a section, which, if you really want to tap in and look at the menu, gotta see how things are long - and it's too long."

Just out of curiosity... does anyone think the 3D Blu-ray will go down in price on Amazon? $30 is a bit much. I'm hoping it goes down to at least $25 by the time it nears release.

I don't think it's out of line for it to come down another $5. The last Amazon 3D purchase I made on release day that was above 24.99 was Hugo, and that was 27.99. Very rarely are 3D movies 29.99 on release day (excluding Disney 3D movies for which Amazon offered a coupon at some point)

Hmm alright. Does the price usually come down initially on the release day? Or a day or two prior?

If it doesn't go down that much, I may just get it at Best Buy and do the U&S.

I can't believe people still think there is a director's cut coming. The Blu-ray will have all the cut scenes, anyway.

In all fairness, it's a byproduct of years and years of shameless studio double dipping. I almost want to blame Peter Jackson and his LotR extended cuts. As great as those are, it inspired studios to start releasing extended "non-director's" cuts for practically every single movie ever made. Now, when a filmmaker is happy with their own approved "final cut", and they refuse to put out an extended cut just because there's a market for that type of thing - they get lambasted by fans.

Honestly, besides Lionsgate's recent double dip of Good Will Hunting and their double dip of Total Recall(which I heard was desperately needed), I can't think of any other recent double dips at all. Lionsgate's Evil Dead 2 came out last year but, that release was awesome and much better than the awful Anchor Bay Blu.

EDIT: Forgot about the Blade Runner re-release. But, that doesn't really have any new disc content, anyway.

I'm not just talking about Blu-rays. Studios were getting really bad at DVD double dipping around the mid-2000s. They were putting out extended cuts for things like Crimson Tide, A Knight's Tale, The Patriot, Black Hawk Down, etc. with little to no extras accompanying them. In some cases, the director wasn't even involved in these new cuts. It was getting really bad.

The studios even maneuvered Scott into doing an extended cut for "Gladiator" and a so-called director's cut for "Alien", despite the fact that he's been very vocal in asserting his preference for the Theatrical Cuts of each.

LOL, I have Alien, Blade Runner and Watchmen in my collection. Those films have gotten new editions but, your statement is very inaccurate. Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut came out in 2010, Avatar's director's cut also in 2010, Blade Runner The Final Cut came out in 2007, LOTR director's cuts in 2005 and Alien: Director's cut in 2003. None of these films have gotten "newer" extended cuts. Also, Prometheus' theatrical cut is Ridley's final cut of the film. He doesn't not intend on producing an extended cut.

Saw an in depth trailer on tv yesterday and now I'm beyond pumped for it. Although I wanna buy the actual blu ray, I might also buy it on xbox zune or vudu so I can watch it now

Look at Avatar. That is just insane. First Fox came up with regular bare bones release, then they came out with collector's edition with bonus footage and stuff, and now a 3D release. That is just insane. I wonder what's next with Avatar: a limited edition wrapped in the loincloths?

Those I didn't mind. They were worth it. Though I can say this about LOTR. They could have incorporated both cuts in one release.

Watchmen in my opinion was the worst super hero movie ever made. It was slow and dull. I think nobody wanted to see Doctor Manhattan walking around with his Willy hanging out. I think I will cover bottom of my TV with my shorts if I ever plan to see it again.

If anyone does already have the Second Screen app, is it possible to upload it somewhere, or at least post the link/code to download it here? It has both the Spaihts and Lindelof drafts of the script... Thanks in advance!
