It does make sense, and Ridley has actually said something very similar to this in some interviews leading up to the movie release. After having heard that, I went into the movie at the theater with the mindset that "this is not an Alien film" and that way I didn't have those expectations, although it is admittedly difficult not to compare Prometheus to Alien since they incorporate many similar elements and take place in the same universe. I was glad I read that beforehand though so I didn't come out of the movie pissed off that there weren't xenomorphs picking people off left and right

Ridley said that the last movie (whether it will be the next one or a third one) will tie/connect to Alien.

Link? I've read that the story will now veer further and further away from Alien.

The 74-year-old also teased that the paradise of the film's possible title would not be as heavenly as the name suggests.

"Because [the Engineers] are such aggressive f**kers, I always had it in there that the God-like creature that you will see actually is not so nice, and is certainly not God," Scott explained.

"I'd love to explore where [Dr Shaw] goes next and what does she do when she gets there, because if it is paradise, paradise cannot be what you think it is. Paradise has a connotation of being extremely sinister and ominous."

Damon Lindelof, who co-wrote the film, suggested that any follow-up would be less concerned with building up to Alien and would instead go in a different direction.

"[Prometheus] has two children - one of these children grows up to be Alien, but the other child is going to grow up, and God knows what happens to them," he said. "And that's what the sequel to Prometheus would be."

I took Scott's comment as meaning that he's set up an all-new franchise for FOX to run with now. I suspect he may do the sequel, but after that it's open.

Usually I'm waiting a little bit to buy it on sale(still didn't pick up star wars because of that)but I guess I can't wait to see this movie again.
$42 to import the Steelbook + whatever the target edition costs...perhaps I'll just grab the Target Exclusive.

I love STEELBOOKS, but I've never paid extra for one...

I just watched the deleted scenes, there are some which I will love been included in the final theater cut which are these 4:

-WE ARE NOT ALONE ANYMORE, this scene adds something for me in terms the characters
-STRANGE BED FELLOWS ( i find this one highly more effective than the original )
-THE ENGINEER SPEAKS, perfect, it adds mystery to his then attack rampage.
-FINAL BATTLE! very nice, is more suspenseful.

.................................................. .........................................
-JANEK FILLS VICKERS IN is not bad, but i can live without it
-ARRIVAL OF THE ENGINEERS not good, I prefer the mystery of the sole engineer.
-PARADISE, don't like it, even though is fun when she grabs david's head by the hair.
-FIFIELD ATTACK , prefer the one in the movie, the makeup is more creepy.
-SKIN AND OUR FIRST ALIEN, not bad but then again, don't feel they add anything to the plot.

scratching the walls in anticipation to see the making up docu's

I want this SO bad

In the last week and a half or so I've bought Cabin in the Wods and The Avengers 3D (which has AWESOME 3D in the last 45mins!) and now this next week...CAN'T WAIT!

REALLY looking forward to checking this out in 3D again. It was great in theaters and can only imagine it to be great at home. I was really tempted to pre-order this at Best Buy so I could go ahead and watch it via download/stream er whatever...but decided to wait. This won't sell out in my area so there is no reason to pre-order and I'd rather wait and see it in better quality anyway.

None of these films have gotten "newer" extended cuts. Also, Prometheus' theatrical cut is Ridley's final cut of the film. He doesn't not intend on producing an extended cut.
Nothing was inaccurate
They all got later extended cuts
and Ridley said he has a 20 min longer cut in an interview! :O

No, what he actually said was "maybe" there would be a 20 minute longer cut. Then we went on to say how much he likes the film as it is, and how he'd probably just have the longer scenes as part of the menu (deleted scenes).

Q: "You're obviously going to do an extended cut for the Blu-ray/DVD. Is it a lot longer?"
Ridley: "Umm...20 minutes."
Q: "Oh, so there's like 20 minutes that will be added back in for a longer version?"
Ridley: Maybe. But I'm so happy with this engine the way it is right now. I think it's fine. I think it works. I wouldn't do that. It can go in a section, which, if you really want to tap in and look at the menu, gotta see how things are long - and it's too long."

I'm way more interested in the Engineers than I am in the Xenomorphs.
Same here, I don't need any more Xenomorphs. I want to see tons about the Engineers! Not the 3 minute we got in Prometheus.

They might've. But I ordered it and my confirmation email still said my total after taxes and shipping was $30.22.

Is Target the best place to get this? I like the artwork, I don't care about the included booklet as I've ordered the real thing.

I just want as much CONTENT as possible...I think Target is where its at still.
