It looked and sounded amazing. That red digital looks so good in the theater and on blu-ray. The story, it was Damon Lindelof. The screenplay was just bad. On a sequel they must get a new screenwriter.

John Spaits was the main writer. Lindelof was secondary.

This is the third time that the aliens franchise has wasted an outstanding cast by saddling them with an atrocious script. See A3, A4 and now Prometheus.

A3 however had some truly inspiring performances if you can ignore the 'irregularities' of the script, as well as some of the cheapest looking sfx we've ever seen in a major sci fi release.

Prometheus had a better script than Aliens

But the dialogue in Alien was mostly improv, which I'm the most fond of.

Def going for the 4-disc set with that 3hr 40min Documentary/Making Of feature (even tho' I don't own a 3D setup [now]).

Anyone know where a Decent Priced version of the Steelbook on this might be? Amazon.co.uk had one but it was £45.90, or around $72-74 (U.S.)

I just tried the Prometheus- Android -second screen app and its fun , synced up right away with the bluray disc.
try to play it on your tablet my samsung galaxy II screen just to small to see the amazing concept art and all the "Ridleygrams",the videos plays fine.
pretty cool ,the movie stops and automatically plays the videos on your tv.
the app is available on googleplay. Haven't tried it on my iphone.

Excellent review.
Dude, Fincher is not going to want to revisit this franchise.

I am glad we're only paying 5 bucks for the bonus disc. I was expected having to pay 10 more. Still would have preferred to pay 20 bucks instead of 25, but like others have said...it's less than a meal at a fast food joint.

Nit-picky whining from me is going in the spoilerbox you who don't want to listen to my bellyaching...

[Show spoiler]The lack of texture on the image kind of makes me sad. Like The Avengers and other digital-shot movies, it's going to lack that filmy spark. Also looks a tad washed out. I don't blame CdL or whoever did the transfer. I blame the DI folks. Likely the transfer reflects what the movie is supposed to look like quite a lot. At least it's scope, though...and not in the HDTV ratio like the aforementioned film.

Gotta disagree on the filmic/texture look of the digitally shot Prometheus compared to others. The Avengers looked flat in the theatre and even more so on BD. Not Prometheus. Between this and the Amazing Spider-Man, that Red Epic camera has made me a believer. There's texture all over the place in Prometheus.

It looks digital but still feels very film-like.

Spaiths is credited because he wrote original script. It was direct Alien prequel, set on LV-426, the ship that crashed at the end was the same as in Alien, with leggs on board, there were facehuggers and Aliens in it (one was inside Shaw's chest, that was the real point for the "abortion" scene).

Lindelof wasn't working with Spaiths, he rewrote his script.

I think I'm more excited to watch the bonus disc than the movie and I loved the movie.

He was hired to rework it, not rewrite it
He's listed as secondary writer for a reason.

Ridley Scott had Major input. Even Lindeloff's vision didn't end up on screen. Ridley was constantly changing parts

I'm glad he was brought on though. Certain parts I really liked of the old Spaiths, but it would have been too much of the same old
also

[Show spoiler] spaiths had everything die

That drives me crazy as well! Especially since I sort my collection by studio. I'm glad that they are uniform, but the fact that they are all in different spots bugs me.

After reading that review I can't wait to finally own this on Tuesday!

Me too! haha. I don't own a 3D tv and don't plan on owning one but I'll be buying that one when the price drops even further for the special features on the exclusive bonus disc

I think this film and Amazing Spider-Man are going to be the top BD's this year. The Amazing Spider-Man second screen app in beta mode hints to a shit ton of special features for that film on BD.

And considering Amazing Spider-Man was shot with the same camera used on Prometheus, you can pretty much guarantee 5 stars for video and probably 5 stars for the 3D.
