Having grown up with the Alien franchise, I had no need of trailers or glowing reviews (or otherwise ) to sell me on the idea of this film. I already knew I wanted to see it. So, I avoided trailers at all costs and didn't seek out any reviews prior to release. The only insight I had walking into the theater initially was that the film had gone from being a prequel, to some sort of quasi-prequel set within the Alien universe, and that it was directed by Ridley Scott...good enough for me

Remaining spoiler-free is probably why I had such a positive reaction to the film as opposed to many others, and also probably why it's still currently my favorite so far this year. I couldn't be more excited about owning this release tomorrow, which feels like it took an eternity to get here

For those making a blind purchase this week, I would recommend remaining as spoiler-free as possible and adjusting your expectations accordingly.

Yeah, weren't the f/x for this movie absolutely stellar?! Even if one were to dislike the movie on the merits of it's script errors, the outstanding practical and CGI work blended beautifully! And the sets! My god, a modern sci-fi movie with magnificent sets, all of them crafted by artisans of such talent!

Yep.

I still have only seen this once, so hopefully I can overlook it's script disappointments and come to really enjoy this.

That video is superb! Kind of sums things up perectly. Doesn't mean you can't really enjoy the film, not at all, but it does address pretty much everything that has been nagging at me...

Thanks k i r a

You should watch the Honest Trailers for The Avengers and The Dark Knight. They're equally funny as well...

I think it's a cultural thing. Ridley's British and more visual in style, letting the audience figure out things.
If you listen to the commentary he says it's all there. And just hopes it won't take people as long to "get it" as they did with Alien and Blade Runner.

The negative reaction to Blade Runner is why he quit doing science fiction in the first place.

I gave them a couple of days to change it back, thinking maybe it was just some sort of glitch, but I decided to just cancel rather than contact CS. I have been wondering, when you pre-order with Prime, they claim you will get it on release day. But what happens if you don't? What do they back that claim up with?

no
They run to the right side of the shadow and the ship follows. As if it's trying to kill them
then
[Show spoiler] it stops on Vicker's exact point before falling over directly to Shaw
I think you need to rewatch the film. Wrong on all counts. And I never said Millburn was a paleontologist. As for the ship landing on Vickers, they do both make a turn to the right, but when Shaw falls, its obvious that Vickers is STILL running in a straight line directly under the shadow of the ship. Even Shaw was smart enough and physically able to roll out of the way the first time. But then even she stupidly just lays down in front of that rock, which wouldn't have saved her anyway. But again, writing for convenience.

And Millburn definitely says "No, ship is good." Fifield then agrees saying "Yeah, ship very good." Then Millburn even says to Fifield "I thought you were the crazy one."

If you call and complain they'll usually give you a refund in an amount equivalent to what the shipping would have cost you had you not used prime.

Let me give you an example, I had ordered The Indiana Jones boxed set. It showed in stock the whole time, yet my order just wouldn't go into shipping. I sent them an email. They said they "assure me" it will show up in the delivery window on the site. Well, turns out that they waited almost 2 weeks to ship it, AND THEY SHIPPED IT WITH MY MONTHLY AUTOSHIP COFFEE ORDER! These were two totally separate orders.

When I questioned this...they said I should choose quicker shipping if I wanted Indiana Jones sooner. I said, "how about I cancel my 17 orders between now and the end of the year?" So I did. The fact remains that Best Buy and Target have been consistently matching or beating Amazon on my more recent orders in terms of price. Amazon has been slow to price match too, if they do.

And I can get it on release day at Best Buy & Target...whereas now with Amazon I get it Friday or the following Monday. I used to get pre-orders from Amazon on Tuesday/Wednesday of release week...

Just wait until more states start making Amazon collect sales tax (or Amazon open warehouses in more states)...it's gonna get really ugly...
Not nearly as drastic, but I had something similar happen with my Prometheus order. Preordered last week with prime, for release day delivery. Then on Saturday I ordered another blu, with a "two day shipping" delivery date of Wednesday. Now just today my delivery date for Prometheus changed from Tuesday to Wednesday, presumably so they could be shipped together.

Bummed I'll be getting Prometheus a day late, but at least I should get it in a box now instead of bubble envelope.

Actually You need to rewatch the film. I've got it right in front of me on iTunes download, and I was right on every count.

You alluded that him being a biologist would make him interested in that, when it is not the case. Vickers is to the left of Shaw. She was not as near to the edge and panicked. The only "convince" thing, is your non suspension of disbelief and unimaginative inability to put yourself in the same situation.

Millburn says "No, ship is good." in a Calm voice. He was of no use there and had been trying to be Fifeild's friend all along. Not in an afraid tone as you had previously claimed. So yea. Seems like you didn't watch it and only saw witty internet reviews
I figured such

I have a similar problem with Amazon right now. They seem to be holding Halloween III out on me because I preordered it with They Live which isn't out for another month.

Sounds like a cost cutting strategy on their end.

I've seen the film 3 times now. It's obvious Millburn is scared. You're just mis-interpreting the scene to suit your own feelings about the film. I also have it on right in front of me. "Calm voice?" Please, quit deluding yourself. It's obvious you're one of those people that will force yourself to believe anything even if the facts are right in front of you and to the contrary. So I won't waste anymore time on this pointless debate. Suspension of disbelief does not equal gullibility and willingness to accept lazy, shoddy writing.
