Yeh, but I do have people on my side who are clearly not happy with me collecting this much Blu-Rays...

Let me give you an example, I had ordered The Indiana Jones boxed set. It showed in stock the whole time, yet my order just wouldn't go into shipping. I sent them an email. They said they "assure me" it will show up in the delivery window on the site. Well, turns out that they waited almost 2 weeks to ship it, AND THEY SHIPPED IT WITH MY MONTHLY AUTOSHIP COFFEE ORDER! These were two totally separate orders.

When I questioned this...they said I should choose quicker shipping if I wanted Indiana Jones sooner. I said, "how about I cancel my 17 orders between now and the end of the year?" So I did. The fact remains that Best Buy and Target have been consistently matching or beating Amazon on my more recent orders in terms of price. Amazon has been slow to price match too, if they do.

And I can get it on release day at Best Buy & Target...whereas now with Amazon I get it Friday or the following Monday. I used to get pre-orders from Amazon on Tuesday/Wednesday of release week...

Just wait until more states start making Amazon collect sales tax (or Amazon open warehouses in more states)...it's gonna get really ugly...

Bummed I'll be getting Prometheus a day late, but at least I should get it in a box now instead of bubble envelope.

Sounds like a cost cutting strategy on their end.
Amazon has ALWAYS tried to bundle their shipping. If you order several items with different delivery dates then the default shipping method is to ship them all together. The site gives you the option of shipping as a group or to ship them separately. The first option is default, but the individual shipping option is illustrated as "I want my items faster, please ship them as they become available."

EDIT: i just checked this to see how they worded it. It doesn't give you separate shipping options anymore, just estimated delivery dates now.

Kinda funny because I pre-ordered The Great Mouse Detective, Strangers on a Train, and Prometheus, they all come out on Tuesday.

Strangers on a train and prometheus shipped! But Great Mouse detective has not shipped yet, and my order status isn't even shipping soon.

SO I guess that "receive on release day" deal is off for this blu-ray.

That sucks. I've always made it a point to pay for the faster shipping option. It also spreads out the joy of getting packages.

Definitely pick up Aliens as well. It's one of the best sci fi sequels of all time (next to Empire Strikes Back and Terminator 2). And regardless of what anyone says, it takes place within the same universe as Prometheus and continues the story Ellen Ripley, Alien's main character. Alien 3 is also a worthy sequel, although not as action packed or entertaining as Aliens. I think you're best off just grabbing the Alien Anthology boxed set from Amazon for $30 right now. You'll get 3 fantastic films, a forth rather meh film (Alien Resurrection) and 2 awesome bonus discs of supplemental material.

I just noticed that too when trying to place an order. Of course, that doesn't stop Amazon from automatically combining multiple orders at their discretion.

I don't think they'll honestly know the difference at customer service. And if they give you a hard time, management would probably be very strict on that policy then.
So I could essentially get the 3D Edition at Target for $24.99 instead of $27.99?

And it takes forever when they do that! Well, I guess that's where they have to pinch pennies. Every company does it somewhere.

So they will even PM the price after coupon ($19.99)? Or only $24.99?

I doubt they will price match the 19.99. Unless you get someone who really doesn't care at customer service!

I had that happen to me within the past 1-2 weeks. I placed a separate order for an item which was in stock and used 2nd Day shipping but it never went into the shipping soon state as usually expected. Amazon ended up holding that order, although the item was in stock the entire time, to ship it with my weekly Blu-ray prorders.

Is that where you bring the product if you want to PM? Not a regular cashier?

Yes. Customer service is where you go for a price match. They will not honor the Upgrade and Save coupon price though, since you'd have to have both the print ad and the coupon. In which case, if you are going to Best Buy to trade in a dvd for a coupon, you'd just buy it there anyway. There's no harm in asking, though.

Thanks. I think I might as well try it. I'll be heading to BBY first to get a print ad (hopefully they'll even have this week's ad and I'll trade a couple of DVD's for the coupons). I'll be heading back on Thursday anyways if Target shoots me down.

I'd save a few bucks and just go with the regular shipping. Unless it's time sensitive.
