Fox was probably scared because of how poorly the two AVP films were received and Fox pushed to change the name from Alien: Origins to something without Alien in the title, which pushed Ridley to remove a lot of the Alien structure.

A great film that explores creationism. However, it isn't perfect and I would love to see a release with an extended cut of the film. Some of the deleted/alternate sequences are actually much better than the final version, in my opinion.

The alternate meeting
[Show spoiler]of the Engineer and the humans
is a big one in my mind because the theatrical version is almost too quick in execution. The extended scene gives the sequence some chance to breathe and marvel at what is happening.

Another huge one is
[Show spoiler]Fifield attacks
. The Weta CG version is hands-down much better than the practical effects theatrical in this instance. The practical effects make him look like Hector Hammond, whereas the CG version is a meld of human and xenomorph. It's quite creepy and effective.
This is the perfect film to have in-depth special features about the story. Can't wait to dig into mine.

I saw the pictures of the half xenomorph, and I agree, they should have kept him that way....there would have been SOME bridge between those two events, and the upcoming two films in between...

Mixed reaction from the entertainment media, I'll take the reaction and reviews from people and forums who know and like sci-fi. This movie is friggin awesome. If you like the genre and epic films that know how to create grand set pieces and cinematography such as 2001, blade runner, event horizon, Alien. You will be fulfilled with this flick.

it doesn't help that the BB sticker can't come off without leaving some residue.

Yes, we need an extended cut. A lot of these scenes are excellent and belong in the film; they aren't the kind of tripe or redundancies that belong on the cutting room floor. Some actually address some of the issues the theatrical cut has. The only part of the extendeds I feel Ridley was right on was the sacrifice engineer. It's better when he is alone.

Now I wan't an extended cut.

If you REALLY have to have it I would suggest paying $45 on ebay NOW or you'll never get it for less than $100 in a week most likely.
when people figure out how rare this item is the prices will skyrocket.
Selling for 60 bucks now on ebay. Saw 10 of them from one seller with the Target logo on front. Still wrapped so no pic of the book.

It is not worth $60. The booklet is very small.

You can buy the actual hardcover book and the 4-disc BD for less.

you get a slip box too.
some people will want it for that also.
Target 3D actually reminds me a lot of the first press Akira--slipbox+special booklet.

Target doesn't put stickers. Especially, for holofoil covers, it's best to have as little stickers as possible.
