Hey, I've bought DVD's for a greater price than that
The difference is negligible

The documentary was fantastic about to pop in the 3D disc, then watch the deleted scenes and the rest of the features. It's great to have a release that actually takes you a whole day to go through. Fantastic release.

I hate you 20th Century Fox. You're forcing people to buy the 3D just to get the bonus content disc.
Its the studio's new marketing scheme like when they were forcing people to upgrade to Blu-Ray by putting more bonus features on that feature.

Just got done with the 3D version and this is why I spent 1,000's of dollars for audio, video equipment. This movie is so beautiful, I think it might beat out Avatar for PQ for me. Audio is stellar too. Just a wonderful Blu-ray experience. I love the story too. One of my top five Blu's for sure.

Problem solved now. Went looking through eBay and found someone who is selling their bonus special feature disc with the 3 hour documentary for $3.50. Makes the 3D version expendable, and I can go in and exchange it for the regular 2D version. Take that Fox. Where oh where would we be without eBay?

And what's really funny is that in a few weeks, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is being released on both 2D and 3D. And I bet both have the same features. Why couldn't Fox do that for Prometheus?

What DVDs were you buying? The last time DVDs for movies were that expensive was before Blu-ray even hit the shelves.

!!!!! So I made the right choice in the store by buying the 4 disc 3D copy? I liked the art better on other but planed on getting a 3D TV soon and LOVED this movie in 3D. I did not know, however, the 3D set was the only one with the extras. To think I almost did not get it.

The 3D is the only set with the 3 1/2 hour documentary on an extra disc. That's what isn't in the 2D version.

Since I had pre-ordered through Wal*Mart, I had to return that 2D copy that got sent to me in the mail tonight. I hate going into Wal*Mart most of the time, but i'll admit tonight's return wasn't half bad. The clerk seemed confused about the whole "pre-order deal" where it got sent to me in the mail, yet I "bought" it in the store. She ended up not even charging me an extra $5 (the 3D version is $30 there), so it all worked out.

As far as the set goes, I have only watched a few segments of the special features and it's amazing how extensive it is. I'm glad to see them really treat this release with a ton of respect and give us fans what we want. I have yet to watch the 3D version (probably tomorrow), but if it looks similar to when I saw it in IMAX 3D, its very subtle, yet it totally immerses you in the universe. I am starting to think that this 3DTV was a great investment.

I said earlier in the thread that I couldn't convince myself to get the Target exclusive edition. While I was at Best Buy today, I changed my mind and went to Target. I think it was the realization that I had a $10 shopkick cert anyways. Wasn't able to PM for the $19.99 price, but was able to for $24.99. Going to watch this tomorrow. Can't wait.

i played this on my a sony bd350 and at the ending scene it was getting pixelation/static(not the whole screen just parts, kinda like those found footage movies), i thought it was part of the movie but apparently not. i couldn't go to the main menu or anything. like it locked up or something.
had to restart the player to eject the disc.

Sorry you missed out. I worried a tad about that myself when I tried. But my Target used the big, bold $19.99 price.

Happened to all of us when we entered it straight into iTunes, but I downloaded both my iTunes and UV copies. How I circumvented that iTunes issue was by going to the little menu that popped up when I put the disc in and follwing steps until I got to a point where I could choose iTunes as a method of downloading, and it gave me another completely different code (that worked). There are much more specific instructions in here somewhere. Check within the last 5-10 pages.

When I was approaching the girl at the guest services desk, I already knew she wasn't going to be lenient with me. I tried anyways though and I was right; she said that it has to be a "set price" and not say "with coupon" or any type of wording like that.

Is it just me or is this movie not scored perfectly?! The music fits so well to what's up on the screen.

Indeed. A gorgeous musical score. In fact, my only nitpick of the documentary is that they didn't discuss Harry Gregson-Williams' contributions to the score (he composed the opening theme of the film that reappears throughout the film including when David is in the Orrery).
