That's the point. It is secret. The world does not know about it.

Does the film explicitly state that the mission is secret to the Earth? I didnt catch that.

The kind that liked to get paid lol . At least in Fifields case anyway.
[Show spoiler]That was one of the first things he says, when he tells Milburn "I'm doing this for money...not friendship, got that?"

Its possible they were getting paid LOTS of money to do this...who knows.

It's not stated, ever. And neither is it that Weyland picked a stupid crew. I'm not nitpicking, these are seriously blatant flaws in the film. Nitpicking would be to call out that David says 18 days, 36 hours. Okay, that's wrong, it's 19 days, 12 hours, but whatever. Fine. Same with Vickers saying that we're half a billion miles from earth, which means we're still in our own solar system. Fine, whatever. The problems are writing problems, where characters act incredibly dumb in order to advance the plot, which means the drama suffers, believability and immersion suffer.

It's okay to like something, and admit it's flawed.

Yeah, I know. I hate that line. It's just dumb, and a cheap way to develop his character. Why would you hire this guy? He's insanely anti-social, and you're sticking him in a ship with other people. I mean, if you really want to hire an idiot, just hire an undergrad who will do what he's told. That'd be much easier than a guy who yells at you when you first meet him. You could pay the undergrad less, too.

Hey all. I only pop in and out of these forums occasionally but I have a question about this blu ray. I bought it yesterday and flipped through it without any problems but when I put it in today not one scene of the movie is smooth. The home menu works fine, chapter selection is VERY sluggish though, but once the first frame of the movie starts there is pixelation in every frame from beginning to end.

I tried cleaning the disk, which already looked flawless, tried starting the movie in different spots, tried cleaning my blu ray player (other blus play fine), but nothing is working. Here are a couple pictures below:

This is the first time I've ever had a problem with any of my blu rays. I won't be able to return it to Best Buy since I sold the DVD copy that came with it last night. Is there any replacement plan in place? What is the best thing I can do? Any help would be appreciated.

I think that is why the Hammerpede was pissed. Otherwise I bet it is pretty friendly.

I hope my copy doesn't do that.

Well later in the film
[Show spoiler]when Fifield freaks out and decides to go back to the ship and Shaw says something to him like "where are you going?" or she was insisting he stay or something. The way he gets in her face and yells at her seemed SO silly and inappropriate and not only that...but everyone, including her boyfriend Holloway, just stood there and watched it happen lol.

Sorry, but if someone got in my wifes face and yelled at her like that for seemingly no reason other than they are a scared A-hole...I'd have something to say about that

If it does, I might have to re-think this purchase. I like my Sci-Fi movies to be scientific, not some religious crap.
do you not know what the scientific method is?

pretty far from religion...

It didn't need to be explicit.
[Show spoiler]If Weyland was successsful in his quest and achieved immortality, do you think he would want to immediately share that with the world? Everyone on that mission was expendable.

I certainly like the design concept, but the CGI in action was crude/fake/entirely unconvincing. If that CGI wasn't finalized, then I'd be open to it, but if that was the "final draft", then I'll take what we were given in the theatrical cut.

Question

Im sure this has been answered, but there are so many pages to go through. I went to my local Target, and they only had the basic slip case 4 disc blu ray 3d set. There was no sign of the hard side slip box Target exclusive 4 disc 3d blu ray.

Was this a pre-order only or only available in certain states?
