His dad or someone that works at Weyland probably got him the job. Or maybe his girlfriend works in HR there. Obviously Weyland Industries doesn't drug test.

I think most would recommend you make sure your Firmware is up to date. I only watched the 3D Blu-ray last night & the deleted scenes. I'll check out the bonus disc tonight and see if it give my LG Blu-ray player or PS3 any problems.

I would at least call Fox customer service to see what you can do about getting a replacement.

Or the firmware thing.

He's probably a janitor at Weyland Industries that wandered into an interview for the position and rock collecting is just a hobby of his.

There is definitely a love/hate relationship with this film. That is why it will endure. They will probably be teaching Engineerspeak classes in college in a few years. I wonder when we'll see a Prometheus episode of the Big Bang Theory?

de Lauzirika sums it up nicely in his comment:

Aside from documenting Prometheus’ making from beginning to end, Lauzirika also managed to put his finger on why the movie, despite its mixed reviews, was still a success with audiences.

“I went to see The Avengers,” Lauzirika said, “and I came out of it thinking, ‘Wow, that was a fun movie. That was great, very enjoyable. Now, where are we getting dinner? Where did you park? And that was it. We maybe had five minutes of discussion about The Avengers.

"With Prometheus, we’re still arguing about it months later. And that’s what I love about this film: love it or hate it, there’s stuff to talk about in this film. There’s stuff to debate, and that’s what makes it a compelling experience.”

I tried cleaning the disk, which already looked flawless, tried starting the movie in different spots, tried cleaning my blu ray player (other blus play fine), but nothing is working. Here are a couple pictures below:

This is the first time I've ever had a problem with any of my blu rays. I won't be able to return it to Best Buy since I sold the DVD copy that came with it last night. Is there any replacement plan in place? What is the best thing I can do? Any help would be appreciated.
Seems some people have been having some random issues with this disc. Id say the primary reason is that its a Fox disc who are reknowned for tinkering with their copy protection for new releases. What player do you have? Have you got the latest firmware update as this seems to be solving issues for some. Otherwise see if you can play your copy in another BD player to rule out a faulty disc.

I agree with this BIG TIME. Its actually the way I view the film. Sure it has faults and some things are mighty noticeable, but its still a very intriguing film that made me think about the possibilities of creation.

Really?

Next time maybe wait to check if the disc at least plays through before selling other parts of the set.

I mean... Duh!

I mean, I would never sell any part of a set before first making sure that at least the film plays through without skipping, otherwise there's no chance of a return.

You really have 2 options: update your firmware and see if that works, or contact fox for a replacement.

Otherwise you'll have to wait for used ones to pop up.

Ditto. I can see why some people are on the fence or do not like the film. Personally I enjoyed it, am happy I bought the 4 disc set, and cannot wait for a sequel. Is it perfect? No. Am I happy that they made it? Yes. You can tear any movie apart.

Later and in the final cut of the film, when he encounters a full sized version of one these beings, he reacts with a sort of familiarity (this theory is up for debate). Since the other one was harmless, surely this one is too? Watch that DS and let me know what you think.

If it were me and that thing reered its head, the instinct to run and survive would have definitely taken over.
I agree with this. This scene really bothered me when I watched it before, but after seeing the deleted scene, I can accept the action of that biologist easier now.

well, actually because he is a biologist that I can accept that scene more easily. After seeing the deleted scene where he grab and got excited, it reminded me of Steve Irwin and other biologist/wildlife experts. You know the type - those "experts" who capture wildlifes(lot of them dangerous) by hand. We know better to stay away from those wildlifes, but those wildlife experts are more adventurous because they think they know better. I've seen some "experts" handle black mamba(one of the top deadliest snake) with just a stick and bare hand. It's different standard than you and me.

We know to avoid polar bears because we know that they are dangerous (but that didn't stop that Grizzly man to live with those Grizzly bears for long time) Also the size doesn't really tell how nasty one can be. Smaller animal can be more dangerous than larger ones. Tasmanian Devil is no bigger than a small dog (and cute too) but it's one of most dangerous animals. And most of the aggressive and poisonous snakes are smaller than snakes that some of us keep as pets. But we can swim next to largest creature in the world (whales) without them attacking us.

But unlike polar bears and whales, etc. we don't know how alien creature will act. How would anyone know that alien is aggressive and can eat through flesh? That's why that scene bothered me before I saw the deleted scene. But seeing how he captured the small worm before, now I can accept that he is arrogant biologist who think he knows better and can control the situation. i can accept this scene finally

Yeah you said it best at the end. You can tear any movie apart. It's just funny what does & doesn't get torn apart by people on this site.

one thing to remember is that this is taking place in 2093 (or whatever), and space travel is (seemingly) fairly common. I would assume multi-trillion dollar missions aren't big news anymore.

and what secrecy is he concerned about? he's a massively successful business man who's hella old -- if this mission isn't a secret, its failure could become his lasting legacy.

It's hardly The Ten Commandments. Spirituality/faith/whatever is one of the ingredients in the screenwriters' stew of halfassed Lost-esque philosophical mumbojumbo, but it's all rather noncommittal.

The fact of the matter is, neither you or anybody else knows about the culture of Earth when this movie takes place. You're going to nitpick about something because "probably all of Earth already knows about that?" What if they don't? How do you know if they know about that? What if mutli-trillion dollar missions to unknown worlds are fairly common in this film's universe? What if you can have secret missions of that type in 2093? You are literally *****ing about something that is purely speculative. That's nitpicking to it's fullest. The fact of the matter is, nobody here knows for sure what they are capable of in 2093 and arguing one way or another about is utterly retarded, let alone criticizing it.

I have always viewed Prometheus as a multimedia experience. A visit to https://www.weylandindustries.com/ will provide a wealth of information about the Prometheus Universe. If you are interested, I suggest you start with the Corporate Time Line and Investor Information. You will find that the Prometheus mission is Classified among other things.

I got my Walmart to match Best Buy's $19.99 U&S price on the 3D set!
