A look at the possible extras on the BD: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=63009

Hopefully this is true as I'd love to have a 2nd disc with more extras.

Possibly the most important Special Feature of the Year:

" Pre-production:

- First and final draft of the script (text) "

I also would have liked a DC.

No you're right. The first release of the film came out on October 11th, 2005, the DC followed on May 23rd, 2006. So a double dip wouldn't be completely impossible. Robin Hood came out with the DC in its first release, but it was a Universal release. I could see Fox pulling an Avatar or Kingdom of Heaven-styled double dip. Though it's basically flipping a coin. I'm personally betting on the DC being the initial release.

I have noticed that with a lot of Ridley Scott's releases, the Deleted/Extended Scenes appear when you click to view the Theatrical Presentations, but they are included in an extended version as well. Hopefully, that trend (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, American Gangster, Robin Hood) continues!

I'm sure Fox will release the theatrical cut first and then a few months later, release a director's cut. Money grubbin *****s.

I don't know why everyone is surprised. Scott says the theatrical cut is his director's cut.

Because he then said in a interview that there would be about 20-30 minutes of extra footage, the details of extras so far is unconfirmed, so I would wait for the "official" announcement of the US release before we all get too worked up

He's changed his stance on an extended cut back and forth in almost every post-release Prometheus interview I've watched.

It's looking like he decided against it, but I'm still holding out hope until the official US specs are announced.

I'll be somewhat disappointed if there isn't an extended version that's longer than 10 or 15 minutes, much of which will probably just be exposition and dialogue. There's GOT to be a bunch of footage that didn't make the final cut. Even if the theatrical cut is Scott's preferred version, he should still assemble a version containing as much cut footage as possible if only to give fans an alternate take on the film. Let us decide which version we prefer. I can't say I was thrilled with the final product so if there's a substantially longer version chances are I'm going to prefer it over the theatrical.

From The Digital Bits...

Quote:
In news today, we've heard from our industry sources that yesterday's list of features from Fox's Prometheus Blu-ray (street date TBA) is only partially accurate. The list came from unofficial/early marketing materials seen by Amazon's French online store, and of course was loosely translated into English. So while the general parameters are probably loosely accurate, it's by no means final or official. We're still waiting to see if Fox is going to be ready to officially announce the title's features and street date for next week's Comic-Con, but in any case we would expect more official and accurate details soon. So just consider the list for what it is and salt accordingly.

I still have hope for the possible director's cut. Some blind optimism won't hurt....For a while.

Yes, more Prometheus please. Certainly if it helps flesh out some more of the story in a supportive manner, by all means. What I don't like is when the footage clearly doesn't belong and the original intent was better. Look at the recent release of the extended version of Stripes. I never even knew there was all that extra footage, but after I watched it, I said to myself......why? In contrast, for example, the footage from Aliens with the gatling guns and Ripley finding out about her daughter helped the movie. The "gauntlet" footage from Lex Luther's secret lair in Superman adds depth to the movie as well.
