Yeah, there's way too much over analyzing for this movie, let them finish the story and then analyze it. To me it seemed as this was an outpost that was experimenting with DNA manipulation to create different types of life forms. These particular creatures are just fruits of that experiment gone wrong. The engineers could have dozens of these labs across the galaxy with different creatures in each one. Our "Alien" xenomorph as we know it could just be in another lab or planet somewhere. Some require eggs, some require "pods" or "modules".

The space jockey in Alien on LV426 had a chest wound that looked like it exploded from the inside, obviously the "Engineers" are having trouble handling the life-forms they have created.

This is why talk of going to "non-disc-based home video" (what's the word or phrase i'm looking for?) scares me. My internet may be down or there's some gremlin at work so my Netflix, Vudu, etc isn't working when I want it to, but by-and-large, if I have power, I can pop in a DVD or BD and watch it. And what about all these nice boxed sets and all those extra features (like a 3 hrs. 40 min. making of)? What would become of them?

Sorry, off topic, but it just popped into my mind.

I think it was originally thought to be a trilogy but it seems how the story evolved it may just be one other film. I personally think a trilogy might be pushing it thin but the next film will tell the tale.

It's supposed to be as per RS. He's already working on the sequel.

I think youll be impressed by it. IMO its the best 3D in terms of depth since Avatar and I didn't see even the slightest bit of ghosting or crosstalk. Enjoy

You may be off-topic a little, but I happen to agree with you. There may come a day when there's no more physical media whatsoever and we have to get everything off the "Cloud." And from there it's just a hop, skip and a short jump to 100% pay-as-you-go viewing, no exceptions. Why should we afterall be allowed to buy/own a movie on Blu-ray, when they can easily convert the existing business model to allow for charging us every single time we want to see a movie?

I happen to enjoy collecting movies on Blu, and the boxed sets you mention in your post are a big part of that enjoyment for me. I think "P-P-V-F" ("Pay-Per-View-Forever") is where we're headed; if it turns out that I'm dead wrong about this, I assure you that nobody will be any happier about my failed prediction than I will.

I doubt we'll see pay-per-view only in our lifetime. it already exists and it's a VERY limited market. Cable has been trying to for decades and people don't fall for it. it's why DIVX failed, people want to OWN things

I did have some difficulty navigating through the BD for this film. It was pretty slow for things to load.

I have a Sony BDP-S570 which is a pretty fast player, however I did notice that I did not have my 1GB flash drive inserted in the back until I was getting ready for bed.

Has anyone else had an issue with slow load times, or is the flash drive needed? From what I can tell, the flash drive has not been inserted in my player for a few weeks.

Just curious

This sucker always takes its sweet time to load for me, too. And I have tried it on 2 the different players in my house (Samsung and LG). It's not a problem, it just takes an extra minute, and everything plays just fine once loaded.

This is for the 2D version - I don't have 3D equipment.

I played it on my PS3 and it was actually one of the faster Blus I own in terms of loading up.

Yea I played the 2d version as well, and yes, everything plays fine without a hitch, it's just slow to load when you choose a video to watch. Not a big deal, I've just been used to such a fast player for so long.

I did notice it took a little more time to load up the movie, more than I'm used to seeing on any other movie, but I guess with the amount of content that blu-ray has (easter eggs, etc.), that it needed that extra minute or even 30 seconds, which by loading standards can be a long time....

I agree. I have a large (and still growing) collection of boxed sets on Blu, and I always look forward to seeing what's offered next month-to-month. I don't buy all of 'em, but I try!
