Their were trailer comparisons before the movie came out, almost identical in some aspects (same music with the screaming sound effect).

Ridley's input on the second one:

"I hadn't done sci-fi for so long and I enjoyed doing it. Plus, when it comes to the Alien world, no one else had addressed the origin question and I thought that was interesting to tackle. Prometheus evolved into a whole other universe. You've got a person [Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw] with a head in a bag [ Michael Fassbender's David] that functions and has an IQ of 350. It can explain to her how to put the head back on the body and she's gonna think about that long and hard because, once the head is back on his body, he's dangerous.

- So that's the sequel?

[Laughs] I wish it was that easy. They're going off to paradise but it could be the most savage, horrible place. Who are the Engineers?"

very true, opinions are like a$$holes when it comes to enjoyment of a film. At least we can all agree that these differences aren't as important as NOTLD90

Go ahead and watch Prometheus. It shares elements and a universe with the Alien movies, but has its own separate story. Watching the others first will simply make it easier to spot the continuity nods.

No, Prometheus is its own thing. In fact it'd probably be better if I was watching it without any Alien baggage.

I have the same PS3. Have you tried resetting it? Unplugging it totally from the wall and leaving it for AT LEAST 15 minutes? Then reset it. I wouldn't totally write it off yet. Just my opinion.

Are you sure it's only $99 to fix? What will they be replacing? Also if the price is cheap enough maybe buy a slim as a backup.

I watched half of the Furious Gods doco on my PS3 and didn't have any problem. I'll finish it tonight and see if I have any problems.

Any idea if Ridley Scott's planning on releasing an extended version of the movie just like his previous movie releases?

Im just curious as to what benefits the fats have over the slim or even the newer super slim that ive been calling it. I had the original 60gb backwards compatible one which took a poop recently so I replaced it with a slim. For the slim vs the 60gb, I'll give the thumbs up the 60gb but thats because that model had backwards compatibility, memory card reader, 4 usb ports. But just about every other model had the same ports and the same lack of backwards compatibility and no memory card reader. The slims have at least one added bonus of HDMI control that the fats do not and I believe there was also some benefits in regard to audio decoders.

Fox wanted him to do an extended version, but he said no, and left the deleted scenes as bonus features.

I sat down and watched all of the deleted scenes, trailers, TV spots, and went through the poster galleries. Pretty awesome set so far. Gonna wait until I actually watch the film again before I delve into The Furious Gods. And for a bit of humor, Screen Rant posted this on their facebook earlier. I got a kick out of it.

I think it will definitely stand the test of time and only increase in popularity. This film completely surprised me and when the original news of the film broke I didn't see anything positive coming from it. Up until I saw it, I thought that. I was wrong. I feel like anyone who "hates it" never gave it a chance - there really is nothing to hate about it, in my eyes.
I don't hate it, but I do hate Scott for thinking he can just abandon a legendary series and then "loosely" tie it to that series for profit boost. That said I went in expecting total trash, and feel like its worth owning and repeat viewings even if there are some odd things and the fact I'm salty it isn't more Aliens...

Just got done watching Prometheus for my 5th time this week and its simply one of my favorite films of the entire year. And then I turn on my cable and so happens Alien is playing on HBO Signature.

The continuity nods are so blatantly obvious even in the first half hour,
[Show spoiler]the ship, the facehugger, the xenomorph. I am sorry but I do not understand how people cannot think Prometheus is a prequel to Alien. Sure, there are some details missing between the two films but its a Prequel Series meant to connect to the franchise in the end, so I will call it a Prequel day in, day out.

People are merely grasping at straws, looking for ways to discredit the film for what it is. Sure, Prometheus has some plot holes that are waiting to be answered but as we all know with Ridley Scott and the Alien series, what is not answered is up to the viewer to figure out themselves if they want it to be answered.

Yes, the picture gets scrambled at random times on my Sony s360. Plays fine on my PS3 though.

You'd prefer if he made an Alien rehash?
I can't fault him for not wanting to repeat himself. If anything, I think the film suffers from trying to tie itself to the Alien series rather than just doing something fresh.

I just finished watching this, it was my second time after first viewing it in the theater. Initially I was a little let down and not because I hoped to see Noomi Rapace gunning down Xenomorphs left and right. Now after watching the blu ray I appreciate the film more, maybe because I have a deeper understanding having seen it a second time. A similar film for me is Dark City, the more I watch it the more I enjoy it. Does anyone share my perspective?
