So the Ship flying off into stellar space wasn't enough to suggest any form of continuation?

There's more information there leading to another film compared to Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3 combined.

Awesome. The better this flick does on home video, the more likely Fox will want to milk it and release an extended cut (though I'd say it was already pretty likely).

If this extended cut happens, I DO hope they choose wisely on what deleted scenes to include. Some of the dialogue and acting in these scenes was AW-FUL.

The only thing to "get" or not "get" is why some of the dodgy'lazy writing, incredible logic gaps, or plot-meandering were allowed to leave the cutting room floor. A good editor would have come in extremely handy here.

Ill tell ya what - there is a thread at IMDB that really spells it all out. Its funny but its right on for the most part. For a good readm have a look...Iit really made my morning and highlighted some issues I didnt even think about. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1446714/...flat/205679462
lmao - there're more flaws in that link than the movie itself. Those IMDBers like to think they're funny and clever. This guy's clearly reaching on a lot of his "observations."

Since some are trying to rip this movie apart, how about these two guys(guards) at 1:32:50 standing next to the door. When they die? They are not with the crew to meet the engineer. Did I missed something?

Hey I love the movie, just wanna throw a bone to the haters.

Judging from a lot of comments in this thread, a lot of people didn't actually "watch it". Just like people who text through a movie and say it was boring or didn't understand it...see that all the time. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out this movie and it was meant to leave questions unanswered...even Shaw asked a whole load of questions when she was in the presence of the Engineer, some of which are what people are asking here. Oh ya and the ending with her saying she wanted to go where they came from, was a dead giveaway for a sequel in case anyone else missed that

Where was it advertised as such? Unless it's a documentary or Al Gore trying to convince me there's catastrophic global warming, it's all entertainment.

It was an entertaining read, but in the end, just another example of a nitpicker looking for glory. Had to laugh everytime i saw the phrase 'science fail'. To compare Engineer Science to ours is presumptious at best. Clearly, one need only observe the flight of the Juggernaut (Alien ship) to see that they have mastered the control of gravity. Remember his reference to his consultation with an engineer regarding the crash? The effects people tried to take a step back from the concept of the derelict ship in Alien to make it appear a bit more mechanical in design. The ship remains biomechanical, however. It was grown rather than built, ergo it was 'alive'. The fact that no damage was done when the Prometheus crashed into it should have been a clue.

Good points. Especially the one about Shaw asking the very same questions as the audience. That's obviously a hint that there were things meant to be left unanswered.

I dunno. That post makes alotta complaints that are just staples of the Sci-Fi genre. For example gravity on a ship and big engines with noise in space are a problem for this guy? (Does he level the same complaints against "Star Wars" and "Star Trek"?) He has problems with the planet orbiting a gas giant, when this is a SCI-FI movie. He has a problem with the thought that aliens built the pyramids, when this is a SCI-Fi movie. I don't get how you won't be dead from breathing in tailpipe fumes, either. Not certain how this is a "science fail", unless this dude is more learned than I am in the ways of car exhaust.

Well said. One of the things I love about Prometheus and Alien is that the Engineer ship and technology truly seems "alien." All too often in science fiction, the hypothetical advanced technology of alien species gets dated due to imposing our own limited understanding of the universe onto them.

Oh I know - its a funny read and an extremely over the top rant. Sometimes, I read those rants about my favorite films. Its just funny.

I agree with this but artificial gravity has only been correctly depicted in cinema ONCE and that was in 2001 A Space Odyssey. Hats off to Kubrick for not taking the lazy route of claiming the ship has a "gravity generator" like Star Trek or whetaver. Its like yeah right, gravity is ALL about motion so with no motion, preferably a circular motion, you cant have gravity. Period.
