I think Millburn was going to turn into a monster originally
some of the concept art has him turning
also Janek says "kill everything, do you copy" in the international trailer
pointing at more than one monster

That's probably why the rearranged the Fifield fight so much.

I have now seen this movie three times since I blind bought it about a week ago, and every time I watch it, I pick up on more new stuff that I didn't catch the last time around, and this is slowly becoming one of my absolute favorite new blu-rays. I never watch movies over and over again like I have with this one. Even if it's something that I've been dying to see, I usually watch it once and then I may watch it again several weeks later, but I always mix it up and watch other movies in between. I really think that, for my tastes, this is the best dark sci-fi movie to come out in ages.

I've noticed that some people are saying that this movie leaves too much unexplained or unanswered, but I keep getting more and more out of it every time I watch it, and to me, that's a really great thing. I hate how almost all big movies nowadays have to spell everything out for everyone with over the top exposition, and I think the mystery and questions in this movie are a big part of what makes it so great. I would hate to be spoon-fed all of the answers, and considering that there is going to be at least one sequel, that would kind of ruin my excitement for the next one.

All that being said, I've really learned a lot of fascinating stuff from lurking in this thread, with a special thanks to Raygendreau.

Having only watched it one time so far myself ~ I can't wait to see it again to pick up on things I may have missed.

Nice post Joe

I very rarely listen to entire audio commentaries but I watched both the Ridley Scott and Lindelof commentaries in their entirety

Yup, this film is visually mesmerizing. I'm also quite fond of the score, which I find myself humming in my head from time to time. Although I have a 50" plasma, I find myself longing for a much larger TV to view this on every time I watch it

Bigger is better

I took this yesterday while watching it. The image is 8 feet wide & just over 3 1/2 feet tall.

And yes, I thought the film was the biggest blunder of the year, in regards to its potential vs it's outcome. I'm glad some people dig it though.

In regards to the black goo's effect on different species being "pretty clear"... yeah, disagree. The engineers and humans were the same species sharing exactly the same DNA, yet some are chest-bursted, some turn into zombies, and a worm goes into one guy's mouth yet nothing else happens except that he dies. That's all pretty different stuff in my mind, with no explanation why.

And I would totally go so far as to say that it's a result of bad writing. Many, many other films seem to be able to explain intricacies of what's happening, so I fault the writers and Ridley for either trying to be too obtuse or just dropping the ball.
These are all the victims and effects of the black liquid

1. Engineer - body disintegration
2. Earthworm - Hammerpede
3. Fifield - Zombie
4. Holloway - Zombie

From the gene samples overlay match it's shown that there are small variances between the human and engineer dna, so although both strands are similar they are not exactly identical (which explains why #1 is different from #3 and #4). Everyone else is a victim of an entirely different creature (be it Hammerpede or Trilobite) and thus the effects will be completely different from those of the black liquid. As for Millburn, he dies offscreen before he could be infected by the Hammerpede, which is why it's still intact when it attacks the crew when they come back to the jar room. I agree that there are examples of bad writing in other parts of the film, but there were enough details and evidence to explain the effects of the black liquid.

[Show spoiler]•Milburn.
•Telling the human race we come from a bomber base.
•The Prometheus finding the base in like fifteen seconds on an otherwise dead moon.
•Nobody seems to care that Shaw just did surgery to herself.
•The co-pilots willingness to accept death so easily.
•Running in a straight line.
•Shaw repels out of the juggernaught, but how did she get IN?! Jetpack?

Yes the movie is very good. I only watched it once but i plan on watching it again this week. I hardly do that with movies. You should always form your own opinion on about a film and don't listen to the complaints.

Default Prometheus problems.. who's having them?

I haven't watch the full movie, just the beginning. When my first copy arrived I play it in my Sony and the opening looked great. Played it in my PS3 and it played fine. A week later I played it in my PS3 and it was pixelated and froze at the opening. So amazon just sent me a new one and it's the same issue. What The hell? I'm having a screening of this on sat.

[QUOTE=BouCoupDinkyDau;6645134]

[Show spoiler]•The Prometheus finding the base in like fifteen seconds on an otherwise dead moon.

Me - (Yea I wish that there was some kind of radar or high tech showing how they found it, when after all it was just Holloway noticing Nazca lines out of his window.)

•The co-pilots willingness to accept death so easily.

Me - (This is my main gripe. And one of them is grinning from ear to ear! Come on man!)

•Shaw repels out of the juggernaught, but how did she get IN?! Jetpack?

Me - (Oh good point there. She sure could not have climbed in with busted up tummy muscles.)

However, I they don't bother as much as they used to. I just wish that Alan Dean Foster would do a movie novel of it though.

.

According to The Digital Bits, there is a bad batch affected by such problems, and you may want to contact Fox Customer Service:

Quote:
In other news today, a number of readers are reporting problems with Fox’s Prometheus Blu-ray. Throughout the second half of the film, some copies are plagued with macro-blocking and will occasionally cause players to simply shut down. It appears to be a manufacturing error and isn’t affecting all copies, so if you’re having trouble we recommend you exchange it with your retailer. You can also contact Fox Customer Care at 1-888-223-4369.
Source: The Digital Bits

It could also be some other non-related issue.

The disc takes ages to load on my player, and menus' response is sluggish. Somebody has suggested it could have something to do with some new anticopy implementation from Fox. Then again, it could simply be that the disc's structure and java programming are very complex and resources' demanding.
