Ah, thanks.

I watched the documentary, but haven't watched it with the triggers. I'll try that some night this week.

Right - lets not even give them any ideas. Next thing they'll place a surcharge on films longer than 90 minutes.

Kiss theaters goodbye. It's going to happen sooner or later. I'll be surprised if there is anything left beyond specialty screening houses (like places where you can be waited on for dinner and watch a movie at the same time) twenty years from now.

My only defense for that blatant error is that a few months before the film opened, I was convinced that the trailers were showing LV-426 and came up with, what I thought, were several clever reasons why. When I found out it was LV-223, it was incredibly traumatic for me. I remember sticking my head out of the window and screaming for 5 minutes: YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO ME, I'M AN ALIEN FAN FOR CRISAKE!!. I thought I had gotten over it, but apparently I've been scarred for life.

Fox wants you to know it's a collector's edition. Maybe thats why it was out of stock on Amazon.. I got mine with a gift card and collected $10.00 in movie money.

IMO the head and face were excellent on the CGI Fifield but the body and the way it moved was terrible, very stiff and unconvincing.

I wouldve preferred a variation of the two. Same head (though not quite as long) and face as the CGI version but on the same body of the final product used in the film.

I finally watched this tonight and really enjoyed it. There was a few wtf moments but overall I thought it was a great movie and it looked great in 3D. I will check out the extras tomorrow. This is coming from someone who has never seen any of the Alien movies. It did make me want to watch them now. I will be picking up the anthology on BF if it's on sale.

That's one of the biggest blunders in the movie.

Halfway in the preproduction they went and decided that, you know, just for the sake of it, because it's gonna be a "fresh" take on the matter, it's not the same planet anymore, it's not the same spaceship, it's not the same space jockey... But they left everything in the movie that keeps telling you that, indeed, it is the same planet, it is the same spaceship, and it is the same space jockey!
I guess people is expected to look at the "LV-233" onscreen text at the beginning and, of course, be able to perfectly remember that the original planet was not that one, but LV-426... because surely that's perfectly etched on the memory of every person who went into PROMETHEUS having seen ALIEN before.
Oh, but of course, that's the point of it, isn't it?, because, as Scott and Lindeloff have stated repeatedly, this is not a prequel to ALIEN but its own movie, so no need for any previous familiarity with the ALIEN saga... But then you see it and it is a prequel to ALIEN!! "No familiarity" my ass!!!

+1. I mentioned that earlier. It's like Scott wanted to eat the WHOLE cake. It was evident in the "Furious Gods: Making of" documentary that Scott HAD decided it will be a direct prequel to Alien. Halfway through the screen writing, he "developed" it into something different that had the "DNA" (har har) of the Alien movies. And after the screen writing was done and dusted, he continually changed things whilst filming. It was clear he really had no clear intention, but went with the flow (hence why multiple plot holes and poor dialogue surfaced).

If the FURIOUS GODS didn't leave that clear enough, production designer Arthur Max says it expressly in one of the video pods. Ironically, that's one of the bits they used for the blu-ray release promotional video.

If I'm not mistaken, the name of the planet isn't even mentioned in the first Alien movie, is it? I don't remember hearing "LV-426" until the scene with Van Leuwen in Aliens. So people who have only seen the first flick might just assume the planet in Prometheus and Alien are one and the same.

This is my biggest beef as well. The ship crashes in the same exact position as they find it in Alien and Charlize sends out a distress beacon at the end of the movie which is what the crew of the Nostromo hear and follow to the first Alien movie. I just hated all the similarities that lead up to Alien but it's not a direct prequel. Scott will have to repeat himself in the 3rd Prometheus movie in order to lead into Alien.

Granted I haven't watched the special features yet, but it sounds like you are saying they started out as a direct prequel but changed their minds and kept the elements from their original vision before changing the planet.

I thought it was a poor decision to cast guy pearce in an old man suit.

Apparantly, they wanted someone who still looks young and has youthful energy...

Why oh why didnt they just cast an older distinguished actor....

The scene was unfinished, which I think is the reason for the odd movement.

It's obvious that they'll use him at some point without the old man makeup (ie; flashbacks or whatever)
