I was watching Prometheus in 3D yesterday and I kept wiping my glasses as it looked smudgy.

Then I found this : http://www.landofwhimsy.com/archives...of-prometheus/

I wouldnt say that was meant to be a "tie in" to The Shining.

The guy is most certainly stretching it. I mean come on I never remember Nicholson wearing an environmental suit or being a woman.

If thats how he sees "tie ins" then EVERY film ever made must tie into one another in some form or fashion.

Totally agree.

Spaceships = Star Trek
Aliens = Star Wars
Space suits = 2001
Android = Six Million Dollar Man
Horror = Stephen King
Sci-fi = Jules Verne
People = other movies
And so on...

I think there's a cut scene in the film where Janek is on a car phone in one of the transports in the vehicle bay, talking to his girlfriend and listening to 80's rap music while he's oblivious to Fifield attacking outside.

Ridley cut it though because it was too "on the nose."

Have not been following this thread as this is not a day-one title for me, but it is my kind of movie, spaceships, hard science fiction with stunning visuals. But what is this about bad discs?

Yeah, I also noticed the slithering alien was a wonderful dovetail with the rattlesnake scene in True Grit.

Yes, this is another problem with the release that is easy to fix. Read back further in the thread for the answer (search digital copy in this thread).
