I heard the Ridley Scott commentary was pretty dull, but the writers commentary is supposed to be interesting. Personally, I'd suggest going for the documentary first. I probably wouldn't have bought this set had it not been for the doc.

OK, 'Tie in' was a poor choice of words, can't spell omage(?). Omages don't require exact same detail.

yeah, being that the doc was the major selling point for me, as well (i don't even have a 3D TV), i guess i should take advantage of that first...

Homage.

You were just a H away.

If they are references they may be bordering on pastiches.

Actually I consider it more of a homage to this cut scene from A L I E N -

Default UK blu same as US release in terms of video and audio?

i was just wondering about this as it seems the UK one has like a dozen audio commentaires on it.
does this not affect the bitrate and at the end..the video quality?
i read the US review wich is really good, maybe that one also has the same amount of commen..no idea...but since it has not affected that release.
i dont wanna buy the UK one if the quality is compromised,i do my viewing on a 90" screen and i see virtually anny...minor..
i hope someone can clear this up and has the info, thank you
sincerely,Peter

I think they're identical. The audio commentaries don't take up that much space. The only differences noted so far is the 3D picture is slightly softer than the 2D version.

Default why SCOTT

Can you imagine a biologist guy, signed up for a mission to explore a different race, crapping his leaving pants and literally the scene at the first sight of an alien body that's been dead for 2000 years? Well, Ridley Scott could. However, the same guy goes ape over a aliereal, moving n cobra-thing and wants to cuddle her! Perfectly consistent character writing! And what the hell was that android guy trying to do with his plots and schemes? What was your plan? Who actually did you serve? And Shaw who did nothing to fill in Ripley's shoes... She attacks the crew, performs a surgery -I'm not even gonna touch that one- that probably overthrows a plan in motion, comes out covered in blood and no one even says "Hey! What the heck?" and they go on another expedition together? And what was that space jockey's problem!? Relax, dude!! I mean you have to be a really mean dude, consumed with rage to come out of a crashed ship and go after a woman you missed the chance to beat up before.

The final suicide mission could easily be completed with 1 guy.

I will never understand what Shaw hoped to achieve by going after "our creators" to "find the answers". What answer are you gonna find with a beheaded android by your side from a race that clearly thrives on rage and hostility? And finally, this was the most UNNECESSARY use of Guy Pearce ever in a movie

My opinions exactly. There's no excuse for that stuff, in my opinion. I do find that bolded bit to be hilarious every time I've seen that scene. I feel like I'm missing something...surely she can't just forget about it that quickly...but it's really as if every character and most of the viewers just accept it and move on instantly..

That didn't bother me because it added to the surrealism of what is a very surrealist film. Giger, of course, was a surrealist and his ideas are still all over PROMETHEUS. A film doesn't have to have a straightforward literal, connect all the dots, plot.

+1,000,000! HEAR HEAR!

I just saw this with a friend at IMAX 3D (again) and there were quite a few people in the cinema (presumably, who haven't seen it before). My mate liked it and yes, plot holes aside, it was a surrealist film that was completely tangent to the whole Alien franchise, bar the fact that it was conducted in the same "universe." He overly enjoyed it. I, could practically speak line-for-line regarding the dialogue having seen it that many times! I still find it utterly captivating and only dream of a Meredith8 droid in the next sequel!

He did, but I still feel as I pointed out earlier that Christopher Plummer would have been the perfect choice.

But didn't they need a young guy dressed up as an old man to do the scenes of Weyland as a young man (that they didn't end up using)?
