Granted I am not a big expert on the Alien series. I saw the first four movies maybe a few times each but never seen the AvsP nor the books or comics. So I had a few questions about the story maybe that would clear out a few things.

At the start of the movie,
[Show spoiler]the alien mix his DNA to Earth or implant it on Earht? Was that something new or was it mention before in books?

I not sure I understood right but they mention that those tall Alien were just doing genetic testing on a grand scale,
[Show spoiler]something went wrong but I am unclear what made her (Naomie Rapace) believe they wanted to destroy Earth? I may have miss something somewhere?

Again not being an expert here but
[Show spoiler]the actual Alien as we know them in the movies are a result of a mix between some genetic materials and the tall Alien DNA?

In any case the movie was not bad, will look forward to see the sequel
At the start
[Show spoiler] the engineer (the tall alien) mixes his DNA with the black goo with the elements of earth to create humans.

What made Noomi Rapace's character (Elizabeth Shaw) believe that
[Show spoiler]the engineers were going to earth to destroy the humans were two things: the fact that they were carrying the black goo (which earlier they saw was very dangerous to humans and the engineers were carrying loads of it) and also that David (the android) said that he discovered that they were going to earth before they had an accident in that moon (he saw their projected map and the destination was for earth). And so she connected the dots and assumed that.

The last thing I believe you are correct
[Show spoiler]it is strongly implied that in the future (some time before the events of Alien take place and some time after Prometheus) the engineers worked more on the how xenomorph (the original alien which also bursts out of the engineer at the end) was created/born; making the process more simple and with a smaller facehugger, but still requiring a host. By what it is shown in Prometheus it is implied that they accomplish this mainly with a mixture of the black goo and genetic material from either the humans and/or engineers.

Has anyone else seen the 1 disc blu ray at walmart for 9.96? It is not on this site to add to my collection. Is this a rare edition? Walmart Exclusive?

I wouldn't say rare, but it could be a Wal-Mart exclusive, 1-Disc release. Kinda like the Narnia releases Wal-Mart had. I'm not sure though, so someone else might be a better help.

I watched The Furious Gods: Making Prometheus yesterday and man was that long. Very cool extra feature I enjoyed every minute. Loved the pop up extras that went even more into what they were talking about. The more I read and watch info about this movie the higher it keeps going up in my all time ranks. I thought it was good after first viewing but now its becoming a masterpiece to me.

The only reason I want the 3D copy is because of the massive behind the scenes extras. I love watching them, I remember Dangerous Days from Blade Runner being around 3-4 hours long seen it loads of times.

The first time I saw it I thought: Meh.

The 2nd and 3rd time I sort of warmed up to it, but then I thought it just didn't do anything for me, and it's such a missed opportunity.

Why?

None of the characters are sympathetic, and therefore I didn't care when they died.
The 2 "scientists" who got killed first were a complete waste, and I basically wanted them to die already, especially the red head.
Everything is cold and sterile. There is no one to root for.
The main character looks so weird, that she doesn't even look human to me.
The skin is really tight, which makes her look artificial.
The questions asked are interesting ones, but there are no answers, only more questions:
First it is, why did they make us, then why did they make us, and then changed their mind, and attempted to destroy us??!?
It doesn't stand on its own at all, because of that.
Also, the dialogue is horrible most of the time.
I don't think actual scientists would talk like miners, or construction workers.
It pretends to be deep, by asking philosophical questions, but falls flat completely, by only showing killing aliens, and monsters.
It doesn't know what it wants to be IMHO.
Also, it's a tad too religious for me.
How can she still believe in god after all this?
It doesn't get anymore ignorant than that, and that again makes me care even less about what happens to her.

The visuals are pretty neat though, and I like how he used a lot of live action sets, props, costumes, etc. Kudos for that.

I am going to try to sell my 3-D edition, or trade it, so if anyone is interested PM me.

Agreed. It just showed that they were kind of making the story up as they were making the film.

These two scientists who die early are very realistic. I'm a geologist myself and all scientists are not like the ones they usually presents in movies, that is to say, the nerds who work in medical research.

I had trouble playing Prometheus on my Sony player, as well. At seemingly random points during the film, the image would break apart and a line of digital blocks would stretch across the screen for the rest of the running time (or at least until I stopped the player). My firmware is up-to-date, too.

Tried the same disc in a different player, a cheap-o Toshiba, and it played fine.

Whatever issues the Prometheus blu-ray has would seem to be player-specific. And it would seem that something on the disc doesn't like Sony players.

This is the only thing I've ever seen her in, and damn, was she ever hot!
Also she kinda looks like Veronica Cartwright from the first Alien film.

How long would it take Fox to replace a defective copy? Waited 2 months after buying it to watch it and there's one part that skips consistently (David and Vickers talking) and it's bothering me.

Why don't you just bring it back to the store?

Don't get me wrong, I love Prometheus, but it's a shame that the deleted scenes & extras make the film so much better. Those that only saw it in the theaters have no idea what they're missing & if certain things were put in the film instead of nonsense like
[Show spoiler]Vickers being Wayland's "daughter"
& a
[Show spoiler]"love scene" that may or may not have proved Vickers to be human
, more people would love/understand it. So many issues I've read/heard people have with the movie can be cleared up by just watching the extras, which don't even come with the 2D version. WTF

Then again, those two spoilers might have validity in Paradise since they are related.

He waited to months to watch it. Depending on where he got it from, might be too late.

I rewatched my copy last week and it did the same thing in my sony player. I had no problems playing it in my PS3 though.
