I wholeheartedly agree with this.

Agree as well. The original cut is the stronger one. The "DC" extended version is a cool feature and I'm sure he appreciates both cuts but he's always said the theatrical was his preferred.

Hmm I must be the only one who prefers the extended cut of Alien. I enjoy the material they added in.

I would like to know that as well. If the bonus disc is 3D only, that's BS

I appreciate your attention to detail, but my statement stands. On the "Making of the Anthology" disc, Ridley states that the reason the Dallas egg conversion scene wasn't included in the Theatrical cut was because it negatively affected the pacing of the film. He was right. So, the conclusion is that theTheatrical (Director's) cut is superior to the Extended (Director's) cut. I refer to it as extended because of the inclusion of the egg conversion scene.

I'd say Alien is the exception to the rule when it comes to Ridley's director's cuts. While the Alien theatrical version is the better cut, every single other director's cut of his films is immensely superior to the theatrical versions. If we are going by the history of his films, there is more evidence in support that the director's cut would be superior than not. I have no doubt we will see a director's cut one day whether it's this release or not. Whether or not it's a "better version" of the film, I have no clue. Though if we are going by history...

Only speculation as of now. Don't expect confirmation until 20th Century Fox releases the press info.

In the case of Prometheus, Ridley has clearly stated several times that the Theatrical cut is the Director's cut. The most likely inclusion in an Extended cut would be the Engineer/Shaw fight near the end. Ridley didn't include it because he thought it would diminish the Engineer. This is similar to the Alien Theatrical/Director's cut relationship in my view.

It appears that the Space Jockey is missing from the cover of the DVD version.

Any word if some sort of Space Jockey statue is included?.

I got the Alen egg set so I won't bother with this but the box art is fantastic.

Condolences to Ridley and family for their loss. Tony was a great director that created a recognizable style to his movies.

Most likely the official cover:

Source: http://www.movieposterdb.com/poster/4ab01bae
It's the same guy who leaked the cover for the 3D release of Avatar not too long ago. I've seen his sources for the images, plus he also gave me a link to a picture of this ad for the Best Buy pre-order:

He didn't have the 3D cover yet but i think it'll be pretty similar to its 2D counterpart.
