I wouldn't expect an extended cut until years from now when the sequel is released in theaters.

I'm of a similar mind - although I'm not not even sure it'll arrive as soon as the sequel. With this kind of elaborate package - it's says to me that if there's no extended cut, then that's how Ridley wants it. If we do get a longer cut, it'll be at the studio's request a few years down the road (like with 'Alien' and 'Gladiator').

I definitely don't think we'll be getting one anytime soon. They would have held off on the big supplements, as well as the deleted scenes, if we were going to get an extended/director's cut later in the next year or so.

This is just me, but I really hate the cover art. I too wish they would've used the movie poster for the cover. More times than not, cover art doesn't bother me...but this one really does

I like the idea of having the engineer on the cover, especially considering how big of a part they played in the film. I wouldn't mind seeing the US get the art similar to the German version, with the picture of the engineer in the chair.

That I would love

Is this cover art confirmed yet? Or just possible cover art?

Well, won't be confirmed until the studio announces this sucker and shows us cover art for both versions, but this art also showed up on the Hungary version already, so it's 99% sure. It's also the image on a Best Buy ad that popped up along with the cover art.

Personally I love it. I think it gels better with the film, whereas all the theatrical marketing (from the poster to the trailers) seemed so intent on advertising this strictly as an Alien prequel. I think this image is much more fitting. I already cropped the picture and used it for my soundtrack art on iTunes.

It was tweeted by an official Prometheus account.

Glad I'm not the only one who isn't crazy about the cover art. Should have stuck with the poster art IMO.

Love it or hate it, this thing made me think and has stuck with me. Hopefully some of these deleted scenes will provide some insight

Crap, I just pre-ordered the 2D version. Guess I need to follow this story to see if I need to cancel and get the damn 3D one for the extras. Ugh.

I asked one of the official Prometheus twitter accounts if the 2D set would also have the bonus disc and I'm not quite sure if they answered my question...

Well they did say, "Yes."

No, I get what you mean, but their reference to the norm of everything being on its own disc, etc, says to me that it'll be like Disney BDs where disc 1 is the film and some extras, and disc 2 is the rest of the extras. If they even need a disc 2 (hence the "optional" part).

I didn't notice if they do, or not, but I hope the deleted scenes have an optional commentary. I'd love to hear Ridley's thoughts.

Fox, if you're listening and I know you are, if you want my money, you will put all the special features and deleted scenes on the 2D version.
