I don't think so, we're talking about movies, and sci-fi/horror movies at that.

We could be talking about our menstrual cycles or something.

Personally, I think Prometheus is better than Aliens. But then I thought the dialog in Aliens was dreadful. I guess I'm just not as impressed with James Cameron as the rest of the world. Don't get me wrong, it's an enjoyable film, but it feels much more like a popcorn flick than Prometheus in my view. Alien is a classic though...it would be hard to top that.

I see what you are saying, but that is why the Alien movies are my favorite series, each one is very different. Cameron has his moments, but honestly I always know what to expect from him, and all of his movies have that same feel which, just like Michael Bay, get's really old really fast.

Alien was a classic. Prometheus will be a classic. They have that feel that lasts forever. Movies with just non-stop action usually lack that depth that will be remember in years to come.

Event Horizon is scarier than most scary movies. I absolutely loved it to death. On the same level of Alien, Aliens, and Prometheus. No doubt about it.

Prometheus was epic!!!! And I LOVE Event Horizon ... just recently learned that the point of no escape from a black hole is called the event horizon

I watched Event Horizon for the first time while in college back in 98, drunk out of my mind from drinking Mountain Dew and Everclear....blew my mind.

And I agree - the sun is scary...and its a shame they didnt stick with that in some way rather than decide to rip off Event Horizon with a ridiculous space zombie twist.

I cant watch Sunshine anymore. Its such a waste!

Its as scary as those films but its not as good as those films. I like Event Horizon a lot, dont get me wrong, but its no classic.

And yes I think the Prometheus-haters will change their minds after theyve watched it a couple of times on blu (and you just know they will buy it anyway! )

There seems to be very strong opinions in this thread, some saying it's the film of the year, others a travesty. I can't be the only one who thought it was just ok, enjoyable but slightly underwhelming considering the hype - can I?

Absolutely! Got the DVD Collectors Edition box and the UK cinema quad of the film, plus the film on BD. I'd rather watch Event Horizon than Alien 3, 4, AvP1 or 2. To me it's Hellraiser in space, and works better as such rather than (would you believe) the original concept for the film which was basically the same as Doom 1 the pc game, i.e monsters from hell use a gateway to invade!
