I don't know man, that seems like some bullshit move to get people to buy the 4 disc version

I don't even have a 3D tv or 3D br player.

Why? There's often multiple versions of a film with more extras available on a Collector's Edition. This isn't anything new.

I don't have a 3D TV yet either but I always will buy the 3D release of any movie I want since I'll eventually get one

Yeah, but usually you don't need a 3D tv and 3D Blu ray player to watch the main disc of the collector's set.

I mean if the extras were 3D, ok, it's understandable, but they're not.

And what if you dislike 3D and think it's a cheap way to artificially boost ticket prices for inferior quality picture? What then?

The 3D disc is just like the DVD they throw in there. It's extra. The main portion of the Collector's Edition is the 2D film and the bonus disc. Otherwise, they'd throw the commentaries/supplements onto the 3D disc.

It's no different than if there was no 3D version, and we had two editions to choose from: a BD+DVD version and a BD+Extras+DVD Collector's Edition. We see that all the time. The only difference here is that we're getting the added value of a 3D disc.

No, you can't tell me 3D discs don't jack up the prices of these sets. Many of us are going to end up paying for something we don't even want.

Of course, the 3D disc doesn't really cost them much more. It's just a normal Blu-ray disc as far as data is concerned (I think). But because it's new, they can use it to increase their profit margins. And now they are starting to push the higher-profit sets to collectors who don't care about 3D, in an effort to simply make more money. Gordon Gecko would be proud.

I'm kinda sick of all these rumors. Everyone should just calm down and wait until the official announcement is made. I'm not taking anyone's word until then.

Then stop whining and buy the Collector's Edition and sell the 3D disc.

Are they really forcing us to buy the 3D crap to get all the extras? Is it confirmed?

If that is indeed true, words can't describe how annoying that is.

Simple solution...sell your 3d disc for $8-$10 and you'll have your extras and better artwork/slip cover.

That's not my definition of simple.

How about they stop trying to ram 3D down our throats?

Let us choose.

I refuse to buy 3-D harware until it comes standard on new gear. I usually skip most 3-D titles, too. But if I do pick this up, I'll just sell the 3-D disc.

That ship has sailed, 3D or no.

Anyway, I may not have a 3D setup - but I imagine it's only a matter of time before I eventually do get one (even if it's years down the road). When that happens, I absolutely will want to be able to watch Prometheus in 3D. So I'm happy to get the 3D disc.

I've always been a stickler for seeing the films as close as possible to the directors intentions. And in the case of Prometheus, you can bet Ridley Scott wants you to see it in 3D, if possible. ( Just a "me" thing, not trying to "push" people to 3D)
