What kicks ass is how The Engineer just became as cool as a Xenomorph. I loved this movie and I cannnnnot wait for this release. I think I'll even pick up one of those Engineer figures that are being released by NECA aswell.

I LOVED Prometheus. It's such a great, thought provoking film. I'm not usually one to watch a movie with the commentary on but this is one movie I'll make an exception for, can't wait to hear Ridley Scott discuss it.

I like your avatar, Continuum is proving to be a solid show. Rachel Nichols is also a really cool person, always interacting with her fans (including me).

I actually enjoyed the plot holes/unexplained answers in this one. Scott did something that exploratory movies don't.. We got more or less the same information the crew got, makes you feel like you were one of them. Super excited for the sequel. I guess there are some things that aren't meant to be explained in movies.

It should be mentioned that an unanswered question is not the same thing as a plot hole.

Ridley Scott says his original cut was 2hrs27mins. I am hoping he is just saying that he is happy with the theatrical cut now, just so it doesn't affect the box office and people don't wait for a possible superior cut in a few months on home video. I will be let down if its just the deleted/extended scenes in the menu. This is Ridley Scott we are talking about here.

With the 20 minutes added, I'll for sure watch it again and hop it moves it along a bit more in the first half. I'm more than willing to give this another shot, just on the extended, though.

I believe this was posted in the other Prometheus thread. He said it in an interview on the collider site.

He says so around the 2:24 mark.

Thank you. 'Plot hole' has become the new black for 'I don't get it'.

The fact that there is so much complaining on this front from audiences goes a long way in explaining the creative impasse in Hollywood currently.

I think you have a point. However, for many films, there really ARE plot holes. That said, I loved this film, and plan on buying it the first day it comes out! Saw it twice over the weekend, and it really was an amazing visual experience.

No, maybe the film lacked a cohesive, interesting plot? There are long stretches of nothing happening and some character motivations are dodgy at best. Its true that the term plot hole gets tossed around too much but its not a problem with audiences. This film needed "more". Maybe they are saving their best ideas for the sequel?

If you don't like it or felt it didn't work, fine. But 'plot hole' has become a catch-all complaint for this particular picture, much like 'DNR' has become a catch-all for any and all video problems. It has become an empty complaint.

This film goes through great pains to establish atmosphere and does not engage in narrative handholding. It is incredibly refreshing to see that produced with a Hollywood budget. It's unfortunate that responses such as what this film is getting from general audiences impedes that from happening more frequently, but I certainly understand it.

Yes, to be clear films with plot holes do exist. As stated in my post above I take issue with its use as a catch-all complaint for this particular film - particularly when many such examples cited are not plot holes at all, they're just not spelled out.

I loved the film too...saw it over the weekend and plan on seeing it again this week, probably later today. Definitely the best picture I've seen so far this year.

This is the first film in quite some time that left me searching for how I felt about it once the credits started rolling. In that way, it was truly remarkable. After sitting with it for a couple of days and reading various theories online, I have nothing but positive feelings for it.

I'm so happy that this movie lived up to my expectations (which I was trying my hardest to keep lowered so as not to be terribly disappointed, but Prometheus was by far my most anticipated film for this year). It was captivating from the very opening scene. Definitely the best I've seen in 2012, and off the top of my head it's probably my favorite sci-fi film since Spielberg's underrated A.I. Artificial Intelligence. Cannot wait to own this on BD!

I will say this again, but I really did love this movie. I love how it does not explain anything, and it sets up very nice for a sequel. Many of the questions unanswered are not entirely hard to figure out. A very thought provoking film, and it does feel akin to the Scott's Alien.
