you just found that out? I've been a fan of hers for quite some time. Have you seen Lethal Weapon 2? she has a memorable

I agree that the new cover art is an enormous improvement.
I NEVER would have guessed that she was the same woman!

The idea of having different special features for 3D / 2D edition is totally rip off for me...

What sort of irks me is that there has been NO official announcement listing all the special features and specs etc... and yet we're only 3 weeks away from this set.

Especially with the digital release coming out today. They're plainly trying to get people to go that route, pushing downloads over BDs. It's despicable.

Agree'd. Even though I don't even have a 3D TV, it would seem I'll have to pay extra just to get all the special features. That sucks royal D***

Watching the Engineer speak was amazing!

I've only seen the movie once. That moment wasn't in the film, correct?

Is there indeed a Director's Cut or will that be included as a deleted scene?

Why would you cut it? It's brilliant!

Good point. I saw it twice and initially I was certain the Engineering speaking was in the movie. But on further reflection, he doesn't. Weyland asks David to communicate to the Engineer. He does, and the Engineer seems to understand, holds David's face in his hands, and then....those who've seen it knows what happens next. Wouldn't want to spoil it for the rest

Seems to me like they are doing what this did with DVD releases in later years, one release is barebones and just the film and there is another release advertised as a 'Special Edition' that has a bonus disc of extras for a few quid more.

I have no interest in 3D but the 3D release is only £2 more than the regular 2D release in the UK so if it comes with the bonus disc then I am happy to pay the extra and I can always sell the 3D disc to make some money back.

Good times.
Downloaded last night, and my modem decided to go on Strike after it began to download the second file.

Haven't had a chance to play it on my HTPC but the film looked beautiful on my laptop.

I'm still not seeing the big deal with the Characters but I will agree that the Makeup for Guy Pearce looked pretty bad now that I have a chance to really see it without the use of 3D Glasses. Other than that, I'm looking forward to viewing the extra features tonight!!!

I HATE the idea of digital downloads. I mean, it's all well and good for some people but all I see are cons. I don't trust it at all.

You can't easily take it with you
You can't loan it to others
It takes up massive space on a hard drive.
You can't display it
Files can get corrupted
Sound is often better on disc
The file types can only be played on certain devices or player
If your computer crashes, or your hard drive breaks, game over.
Computers etc get out of date and compatibility issues arise.
(My desktop can't even update my iPad or watch Netflix anymore because it's an old operating system. I rely on the laptop.)

I will always prefer a physical disc. I have it right there, in my hands. No issue. I put it in the player and it plays on a TV. I don't want to watch on a computer, and I have never been able to get my PS3 to play the video files in my iTunes library (at least not the hi-res ones)

Agreed. There is something awesome about standing in front of your collection and marveling at how its grown.

It would suck to have a friend say "can I check out your collection?" and have to point to a box

I prefer the disc as well, but you're stretching it a bit on some of those problems you list. Most of the companies (like iTunes for instance) allow you to download the film as many times as you want, so there's really no worry about computer crashing and hard drives breaks. It's not game over. It's actually better than the physical disc. What if you lose the disc or you get robbed or there's a fire?

And depending on the devices you own, you can easily "take it with you." Computers getting out of date is another one that's pushing it. I agree with HD space, loaning it, and another one you didn't mention (what if the digital provider went out of business, what would happen to your files then?), but there are plenty of pros for digital copies too.
