Well depending on how similar, given that list of stuff, they would still be wrong on some accounts no matter how you slice it.

I liked the film for what it is. Considering the other garbage out there this film at least makes an effort to be intelligent and entertaining. My main issue is the lack of surprise or discovery. We pretty much know what they will find when they get there. Yes, there is a new set-up for where I guess the series will end up going; but I would have liked to have seen something new brought to the table.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed myself. But I wish there was at least one moment that caught me off guard. |

I think the fact this was early on tied to Alien set peoples expectations way too high. Alien redefined SciFi. They would have been better off never mentioning the connection to the film. Instead they tied it to Alien then reversed course and said it wasn't tied to Alien and have been waffling back and forth ever since.
People have made some valid points about the plot while others easily show their unrealistic hatred of the film. Even if it has many holes in the story there are still quite a few sequences that just plain kick ass ![]() Actually I'm sure we could nitpick Alien and Aliens to death and find a lot of plot holes as well. |

I really hope the longer version helps with some of the continuity! Especially

Also, amazing movie. I loved it. Definitely day one for me. The [Show spoiler] was the first time in awhile I actually said 'holy shit' out loud in a theater.

I liked it quite a bit. There were a few plot holes, I thought the pacing was a bit off, and Charlize Theron's character was totally wasted. Also the side characters were just stupid(though the same could be said for Alien and Aliens)
But otherwise, I really liked Rapace and Fassbender, the cinematography was stunning(and it looked fantastic in 3D). I loved the designs and the effects work was very well done. I even thought the music was good. And I know people disliked how so many questions were left completely unanswered, but I'm pretty sure that was the point. No answer would ever be good enough. But the questions they gave to the audience were great for a discussion. I haven't spent so long posing and debating theories about a film's story with friends for a LONG time. I look really forward to a sequel, and the Blu-ray. I just hope that: 1. There's an Extended Cut 2. The 3D version is in 1.78:1 like it was in IMAX. |

I liked it quite a bit. The way I see it, the first alien was a horror movie, Aliens was action, and this was sci-fi. The only issue I have is that the aliens that created life all look like Tim Tebow. Troubling.

Best case example is the whenever it went to the characters POV, there's a technical readout that at the top and bottom. The scope version has the text almost at the very top of the frame, but the IMAX version has plenty of image above and below. There's also a few shots I've seen where it appears the image is cropped in the scope version. Note that I have not seen the entire film in scope yet, but I prefer the flat aspect for the Blu-ray (although I think it's entirely possibly that we'll get a 2.40:1 2D version with a 1.78:1 3D version). |
