[Show spoiler] He pretty much tells people in the industry and people questioning his motives to STFU

Well, that's pretty much Ridley's modus operandi anyway. That's what I love about him.

I disagree, take it as something David Fincher did not possess early on in his career considering what he had to put up with during the filming of Alien3. It's His film, he's the director, stop questioning everything for crying out loud. That's the way I see it. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but Ridley is in the driver's seat here.

Still, I would have loved some explanation to things complained about (the common-sense-type complaints of character decisions, for instance)--- learning motives behind some decisions would have made me appreciate the film more.

In some instances he does explain some of the motivations behind some of the characters, and harkens back to his earlier films, which should be a prerequisite for anything dealing with Prometheus and its complainers, because quite honestly its rather funny that no one complains about the decision making of Brett, Dallas, and Kane.

I could have been having a "senior moment" but while picking up the Indy boxset tonight at Wal Mart, they had a Prometheus version on the shelf. It was $24.96 and you were able to watch Prometheus "tonight" via vudu and they would send you the Blu Ray when it was released! Has anyone else seen or heard about this?

I would have jumped on it but no 3D version!

At one point during the commentary, Ridley mentions that all of the answers are there; there are clues everywhere throughout the film. He also mentioned that he hopes that people will dissect it now rather than write essays about it 35 years from now. Overall, a very good commentary. However, I do wish that he would have commented more on the deleted scenes and why they were removed...hopefully, that'll be on the blu-ray.

I must say that Ridley's commentary has given me a whole new appreciation for the film.

It's also worth noting that I kinda liked seeing the film on my slightly brightened laptop LCD screen...it reveals a LOT more detail in the sets and in the backgrounds...unfrickenbelieveable amount of work went into crafting every single shot.

I may change my mind in years time, but at this moment I would honestly have to say that Prometheus has surpassed Alien for me...really looking forward to multiple repeat viewings of the film going forward.

Can't wait for the sequels (Ridley did mention two).

One other thing, listening to Prometheus through my headphones revealed a whole slew of sound effects that I completely missed during the 7 times I watched the film in theaters. Not sure if the theaters have a slightly different mix, but the film REALLY comes to life with all of the tiny little sound effects now being clearly heard. The score seems slightly less dominant now, which I like.

Thanks for the info on that! -- (Although just to be clear--what I was referring to above were mostly those common-sense-type complaints on character decisions and such things that could have been addressed by him, not the unanswered plot points. Though when I think about it, I guess if you find something wrong with it or nothing wrong with it, you wouldn't change your mind either way)

Ahhh!!! Curse you all. I totally caved. I'm downloading it off of Playstation Network now.

Why must I be so weak?!

I guess now I have to buy 2 copies of the BD to make up for this.

True, true.

I have to say, I'm not regretting it one bit. Watching it now, while it's downloading - and I forgot how freaking gorgeous this film is.
