Previously the street date for “Prometheus” was slated for Oct. 11. The studios have updated the street date to Oct. 9.

For the first time ever, Best Buy is offering early access to the digital version of a movie before the movie’s physical release date. Beginning Sept. 23, customers who pre-order “Prometheus” on Blu-ray or 3D Blu-ray will receive instant access to the digital version of the movie via CinemaNow – approximately two-weeks prior to the movie’s street date for physical disc on Oct. 9. Anderson will set the preorder cards on Sept. 23 on either a shipper or the new release fixture in your store.
The “Prometheus” pre-order process is similar to a standard movie pre-order with a few exceptions:
• Customer pays $14.99 for digital content + preorder (instead of the typical $5 pre-order fee).
• Customer receives $14.99 credit towards the 3D or Blu-ray combo physical format after the movie releases in-store.
• Customer immediately receives a HD version of the movie through CinemaNow– prior to the physical disc release date via a code that will print on the customer’s receipt and will be emailed to the customer.
• $14.99 deposit is not returnable at any time as this represents the value of the digital copy of the movie. The $14.99 deposit should only be returned when the customer picks up the physical copy of the movie.

Not sure how I feel about this early digital copy preorder I kinda feel like I'm giving the cold shoulder to my blu ray collection by doing so...like they will look at me and give me the "shame, shame" finger for cheating in this way, lol. Plus it will just make me want the set more because I'll wanna watch all the bonus features right away and then the commentary.

More importantly, I don't think I want to lock in where I purchase the blu from until final retail releases are announced along with prices.

I am already using iTunes, Flickster and Vudu for digital copies. I am not interested in yet ANOTHER streaming movie service (CinemaNow).

Stopped by Wal Mart today and they had some Prometheus covers in plastic cases for $24.99. Apparently that was good for the digital download (I think the disc came with a code) and you brought your receipt and/or case to Wal Mart on release day and picked it up. I'm assuming it was the standard 2D. I meant to snap a photo.

Thumbs up

Yup, $29.96 you get to download the 1080p 2d version instantly and your hard copy will arrive Oct 11th in the mail. First time I've seen this in a store on the shelf. Im pretty happy with the pq/aq on the HDX VUDU streaming, still not quite blu ray quality, but pretty dang close. Overall pretty cool deal, great pre order incentive

This movie benefits a lot from a second viewing. I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not when I saw it in the theater. Saw it today and really enjoyed it.

Thanks for that.

Damn, the Engineer looks so cool.

That scene shouldn't have been cut.

The Engineer has one of the most generic designs I've ever seen, yet they intimidate the hell out of me. The clip with it talking commands such authority over them.

You're right. In theory that's true.

But somehow he's so mesmerising.

The ending to LOST is pretty much perfect in every way possible.

I don't think generic is the right word for him. Simple perhaps, but its not like we are seeing that particular design in a lot of other films.

The only issue I have with pre-ordering it for 14.99 is that it doesn't let you know how much it will be on retail.

If it's 24.99, I'd rather just wait, you know?
