This is why I cancelled my UK 3D order. I'll try again on release week for a lower price.

Fox has basically crapped on this release in favor of the download version. That is after all the focus and this is their lead title in their new campaign strategy. I don't like it either--but what can you do other than take what you are given or simply boycott Fox.

Yeah, it still won't affect me buying it on day one!

So what will be the US cover art? This site shows the cover with the Engineer's head, but Amazon still has the giant statue head.

No one knows for certain but it seems unlikely. More likely we will just get the cut scenes as extras. But who knows.

Yes it does seem that Fox is testing the waters with a new release strategy which is unfortunate. I dont like digital downloads and will always preference a physical disc but who knows how long that will last for, or at the very least how much effort studios will continue to put into releases particularly once the favour tips towards digital downloads over BD.

Don't you just love the new 3D cover?

I wonder why people think that ugly blue band on top of that 2D release is the new cover for 2D edition.

Here's the link to the side by side view of pics.

And oh BTW, I prefer the engineer one for 2D.

Well I only copied the image from Blu-Ray.com.. But it's probably because there wasn't a clear one online without the blue border.. I honestly love what they did, kept it black but a blue line under.. I think it's nice.

I take that back, after looking closely in the picture, I hate how it says "4 disc- collectors edition" on the spine.. -_-" it just makes the title smaller. It's no biggie, but I wouldn't have included it.

I like them both but prefer the 3D cover if I have to choose one.

If this question has already been answered, my sincere apologies...

As far as the USA 2D Blu Ray release...I am under the impression there are no bonus features on the 2d blu ray disc, correct?

As far as the USA 3D release...There are bonus features included BUT are the bonus features ONLY going to be on the 3D Blu Ray disc OR will the same bonus features be included on the 2d blu ray disc in this collection as well?

Reason I ask...I do not have a 3d TV nor 3d blu ray player. I would prefer to have the bonus features on the 2d blu ray disc so I can watch them on my 2d blu ray player.....

3D combo is a 4 disc collector's edition. It will have an extra blu-ray disc with all special features. 2D edition will not have that. Unless Fox decides to include it, in which case we'll know when the official announcement is made.

Question about the statement in bold...do you have any idea if that specific blu ray disc is a 2d disc OR is that a 3d disc?

I have to imagine it'd be a 2D disc, since the special features are rumored to be pretty expansive, and since that seems to be the case with pretty much every 3D release.

Most likely 2D. I don't think there is any reason for them to convert special features into 3D. That would be just ridiculous.

Everything will be answered when the official announcement comes out. Speaking of which, I think Fox will wait until the last moment to announce this. I hope they don't wait until like 11.59 pm of October 8th and say, "Oh! and another thing. It comes out in like a minute, so head down to your local store and grab it."

Thank you kindly for answering the above question and for your comments. This is very helpful to me! I will purchase the 3d release then for a couple more dollars and hope for the best. Thanks again!

If you like watching special features, you should definitely get 3D edition for couple more bucks. I don't ever watch special features. So, me spending extra for 3D edition would just be plain stupid. Plus, I have a couple of movies with tons of special features. I get tired after watching like 5 minutes of it. The only special feature that I have actually seen in its entirety is the Inferno documentary from The Expendables.

So yeah, I will be getting 2D edition because I don't want 3D or special features. Plus, I like the 2D art better. The only way I see myself buying 3D is if Best Buy has both editions for same price like they did with The Immortals release.
