Now at $398.1 million worldwide; just passed Snow White:

Safe to say that $400 million is in the bag before the DVD/Blu-ray release.

In this age of super-blockbusters I don't even know what's normal for a movie, that's not bad though right?

It needed $225 million on its $90 million budget. So yes, it's doing well.

Wasn't it 120-130 million and 150 with the marketing?

Default Best Buy/Cinema Now deal

Anybody go for this "pre-order and watch it tonight" deal? Canceled my amazon order for this. Hope it was worth it. Seemed like a good deal.

Yikes. With that budget it needs at least $275 million to break even. It's still making money though.

Box Office Mojo didn't list a budget but I know at one time $90 million was its estimated cost. Sometimes the cost of advertising is added in but it's not clear if its explicitly added into the production budget or not so that's hard to tell.

I was going to preorder at Walmart, but it appeared that you could only get the 2D edition with the preorder. I think I'm just going to wait and let the film be fresh when I see it.

I can dig that. It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I get to tackle the BD with all of the extras, which will give me a chance to listen to a commentary.

I do like the early access to the digital copy.

DCs are usually on the dvd disc so we will get a whole disc for bonus as it inc a 90 min making of plus lots of other goodies!
Not entirely true. The BTTF Trilogy came with 6 discs: 3 BDs and 3 DCs.

That's towards the total price of the movie.

Watched this last night after a friend bought it on Vudu. I liked it, but not enough for a day one purchase. I'll get it when it's $10 or under.

Went to Walmart today an they had a case with the cover of the movie and it was just the vudu copy and it came with a code so you could put it in online and get the blu-ray. The movie or pre-order is to be paid in full but my Walmart price matched best buy since there doing the same thing. Even though at best buy 14.99 is the pre-order down payment at Walmart that's the full price for the blu-ray and they sent you the movie on release date in the mail after you put the code in you got from the case online it's almost like a gift card type thing but the 25.00 from the pre-order goes straight to the blu-ray once you put in the code that's in the case. So I paid 16.20 not bad for a new release that isn't even out yet. I was going to hold out on getting it but for that price ill bite.

Cancelled my amazon pre-order. I'll still be 100% owning this on blu but I'll wait until it's sub $10. Besides, it will be shown on-demand here without doubt so I can still watch it for a couple of bucks in the interim should I want to.

Realistically speaking, the road would come out instead.). People overlook these flaws but nitpick Prometheus.
I think most of them expected a horror movie like Alien and instead when we got a brilliant sci-fi with magnificent visuals and an amazing score, people started complaining. If you wanna complain about the plot, I don't understand why you don't do the same with Avatar?

This is currently the present bandwagon - Love The Dark Knight Rises and treat it as the second coming of Christ and hate on Prometheus as much as you can.
Wow. Ok, speaking as someone who was also disappointed by Prometheus (but doesn't hate it) I'll say a couple of things:

First, people "expected a horror movie like Alien" becase that's PRECISELY what the relentless marketing and advertising campaign promised. Virals, clips, trailers, teasers all promised exactly that. a horror movie like Alien. The film suffered hugely in my opinion becase of the marketing campaign.

And are you taling to the other poster specifically when you say "you don't understand why you don't do the same with Avatar' in reference to criticising the plot? Seriously? I thought that's why it coined nicknames like "dances with Smurfs" etc - precisely because criticism of the plot of Avatar was so widespread and overwhelming.

Maybe, just maybe people criticise Prometheus because it set itself up to be criticised, or even more horrifying, because the critcisms are justified?

Like I said, I don't/didn't hate it at all, but I certainly walked out of the theatre underwhelmed and more than a little disappointed.

I was speaking in general, not directly to anybody, with the Avatar comment.
Anyway, I deleted my comment as I don't want a flame war in this thread. As of right now, all I care about is the expanded ratio and 7.1 for the blu-ray.
Valid criticisms like yours(the marketing dept definitely screwed up by falsely advertising the genre and mood of the film and also by showing too much) are fine and are obviously welcome in a forum but what pisses me off is posters like Basketball going out of their way to troll a thread. I don't expect everybody here to blindly praise the movie but they shouldn't just make one line remarks repeatedly saying it sucked.

I have had at least a dozen orders from them over the years and never once had an issue with the packaging plus the delivery times have always been a week or less and never any customs.

Amazon might have lower prices but you either need to pay for faster shipping and the import fee or risk customs.
