I loved Prometheus although I feel the Directors cut will be better with the extra 15 or 20 minutes Ridley Scott cut out.

I really hope there's a director's cut as well. As it is, it feels like a lot was left out (well, that's obvious from the trailers alone). I enjoyed it, but was disappointed. Not what I was expecting (more of an adventure sci-fi film than horror, action, or thriller as advertised). I have it on pre-order though, as the 3D was fantastic and it looks amazing.

I watch it twice in 3D , and I loved the film. Sir Ridley has been away from
Sci Fi for almost three decades, and the man has not lost his touch ( we have to
remember the guy does about 200 commercials a year ) , I have one rule go into the cinema with no expectations and absolutely do not listen to critics....
Thank You : This is my first post

Best case example is the whenever it went to the characters POV, there's a technical readout that at the top and bottom. The scope version has the text almost at the very top of the frame, but the IMAX version has plenty of image above and below. There's also a few shots I've seen where it appears the image is cropped in the scope version. Note that I have not seen the entire film in scope yet, but I prefer the flat aspect for the Blu-ray (although I think it's entirely possibly that we'll get a 2.40:1 2D version with a 1.78:1 3D version).

I saw the film on a Cinemark XD screen where I think the screen AR is 1.85 not like IMAX-Digital screens which are 1.78, because Prometheus was the second 2.35 film I noted where the black borders above and below the image where minimal - unlike on IMAX-Digital and IMAX 15/70 where the black borders are far more obvious. The plus of the XD screen is that unlike IMAX, the 7.1 soundmix really outshines the 5.0 mix. the back surround channels are far more active and place sounds to the sides and behind you. The water drips inside the spaceship really felt like they were enveloping you

He cut out well over an hour at least. There's loads of extra footage and there will be a director's cut

Scott says he likes the movie the way it is, and says the version with 20 extra minutes is "too long." If there's an Extended Cut, it won't be a Director's Cut. The Director's Cut is currently playing at your local cinema.

The IMAX release of Prometheus has a 2.0:1 aspect ratio, not 1.78:1

If Charles de Lauzirika is still working with Ridley's discs, we shouldn't worry about anything. It'd be cool if this had the same extras structure as the Alien Anthology (marathon mode, etc).

Edit: He is working on it!

So glad I never seen aliens films before I saw this film, now I can just continue the story where the movie left off.

WOW! I just came back from watching this. Impressive! I couldn't stand "The Avengers" and after watching this movie, my reasoning has been confirmed. The Avengers is a movie that is utterly mindless child's play compared to this. Sure, I'll get the "X" amount of people or "X" amount of dollars dissagree with me argument and I couldn't give a rats ass. Of course, someone else will try to be cute about that and ask something like: would I care more about some other type of animal's ass. In any case, the movie was adult, it was taut, it had tension and suspense and......WOW.... it had someone who actually studied the art of judicious use with special effects. They complimented the picture/vision instead of crapping all over it. A very BIG day one buy for me!

So you just refuse to acknowledge you may have overlooked a few things and choose to blame the filmmaker for your shortcomings .. nice.

You REALLY didn't like Avengers, huh?

Well I'm glad I'm seeing more people who liked Prometheus. I've been seeing a lot of Prometheus hate, but my friends and I all loved it.

In the interview on Collider he specificially talked about the Engineer vs Shaw Axe fight and that it "won't go in the long version"

so he's contradicted himself in the same interview, first saying it's a good length as it is and then mentioning the above (albeit a bit muffled, knowing he let out a little secret)

or something , I just hope it's true. Maybe I'm just hearing what I want to hear

I hate when people can't imagine that there are things going on between scenes that the filmmakers intentionally don't show. There are movies like Transformers 2, where the plot holes contradict directly with what someone says or did, but in films like The Dark Knight or Tron: Legacy or in this case, Prometheus, the writer/director WANTS you to actually piece things together so that you don't need to sit through a 5 hour movie.

Sorry I don't believe that's true. Can you state a source please. He may have changed his mind during the marketing junkets but I doubt it.

On itunes top 10/20 podcasts you'll find the Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo film review show. There's an extended interview with Ridley Scott in which he says he cut loads and is looking forward to doing an extended/director's cut.

I think he's just saying that there's a possibility for an Extended Cut, but that scene will definitely be on the Blu-ray BUT it'd never show up in the Extended Cut because the scene was replaced entirely.

yeh I think the studio told him after that not to really let out that they are doing one or so it seems. Some of the cuts are very obvious so I wouldn't be surprised

That makes me very happy. When Scott said he that he was happy with the current cut, he did sound hesitant in the video I saw. Maybe it was because it was so much closer to the release and the interviewer was a lot less important.

Also he's probably thinking more and more about an extended cut because everyone keeps pressuring him in press junkets.
