They are still using the super old covers Fox sent them. The ones listed on this site (blu-ray.com) are correct. They have been confirmed by Best buy and Wal-Mart retail locations who have pre-order digital downloads for sale.

Most likely they will all be on the same page when Fox decides to send out a press release.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. I'm glad they're correct because the 3D cover is my favorite.

His brother only passed away about a month or so ago. If had been looking at doing an extended cut it would have been done some time ago. A lot of the special features are done even before the film hits theatres or shortly after. I doubt there was ever going to be an extended cut. Maybe one will turn up in future, who knows. For now this is what we have.

You're wrong, kinda.
- The Best Buy version according to their online site is either for the 2D or the 3D version, which you get the CinemaNow digital movie now and then you go to the store to pick up the version you want and pay the difference from the $14.99 on release day.
- The Walmart version is for the 2D version only, which you pay $24.99 now to get the Vudu digital movie now and then give your mailing address to Vudu and they will ship it to you on release day.

I did the Walmart pre order and I price matched with the Best Buy ad and got Prometheus 2D Blu Ray for only $14.99! Great deal!
And the Vudu digital movie of Prometheus in HDX looks and sounds great too.

Man, what a confusing release. Maybe BR.com will clear some of the it up when they review it.

nice trick, but you only get the 2d version and whatever extras that come on the 3d disc exclusively, you will miss out on right?

Well maybe all Amazon users should realize that they're not supposed to review products before they've even used them. IMO Amazon reviews of BD/DVDs should be based on their technical quality, not their films' quality, because it's Amazon not Rotten Tomatoes.

The only logical thing I can come up with is Fox probably has an agreement with all companies involved not to leak any details prior to the release. I know video game companies do this quite often, they send in people from the industry to check out their game, but have them sign a contract not allowing them to discuss the game until a said date. There's a fancy term for it that I can't think of.

Exactly! It's supposed to be a review or the product as a whole.

I know what I do! On release date I will walk in the store, read the back info and if I like whats written on it I buy it and if I don't like it I buy it. No choice... It's a must have. Down the road were will be double dipping any way.
Still hyped

I think this is the first release where I've seen each retailer with a different cover. I wonder if Fox is going to release them that way. Everyone gets specific artwork.

I'm starting to think that Fox is intentionally ****ing with us so that we will go insane by not knowing what's going on with this release. Touche Fox, touche. Your move.

Not having solid info on this release is driving me crazy!

In the time since I pre-ordered my copy at Wal*Mart (With the Vudu digital copy), my girlfriend and I have decided that within the next few months, probably before Christmas, we will invest in a 3DTV. Because of this, I am going to bring back the 2D Prometheus that will come in the mail (still have the reciept from the pre-order), and upgrade to 3D at the store. This movie was one of the first I saw in IMAX 3D and it blew me away, can't pass on seeing this film in all its three-dimensional glory.

I think it just means the deleted scenes.
If there was a DC then the UK BBFC would have listed alternative version for classification.
