Directors Cut? I assume no but would like a final verdict!!!!
No director's/extended cut. Sorry to have to disappoint.

Btw, anyone here with trading score, willing to help me out with a Target title to Europe? PM me. I'll cover all costs and then some.

Well, with a release this thorough, I think we can safely say that Ridley feels like he delivered his preferred director's cut in the cinema.

Love that list of extras. Thank you for taking the time to write it out for us all. I love to watch extras on my movies but not everyone takes the time to make out an extensive documentary and show the true amount of craftsmanship that goes into them. Never understood why a studio would put millions upon millions into films and just bare bones it.

The extras on the bonus disc are incredibly in-depth. If you've only got the slightest interest in the craftmanship of filmmaking, you're going to absolutely love it. I've watched the majority now, and this is quality documenting of the highest order.

I just wish whoever in charge of doing the bonus features of The Avengers saw this... this is how you treat the fans with respect...

[Show spoiler]This is to the 3D release's credit though, it has an incredible amount of extras! And it's not fluffy stuff either! Kudos to Fox, they clearly put an effort into this brilliant release. I easily got caught up in watching some of it while scanning all the timecodes.

I own the European release, but it IS from Fox, so aside for language differences, I expect the extras to be 100% identical on the US release.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but why is the 3D edition scheduled to be released on Thursday after the 2D edition on Tuesday?

Also, anyone whose watched the digital version from the BB preorder: Have you been able to view it on your TV, or is it online only?

As far as i know it isnt. My order is due to ship on the 9th and its the full 3d package. All editions were orignally scheduled for the 11th but was pulled forward to the 9th. That is for the US release anyway. Not sure about anywhere else.

BTW is there absolute confirmation that the US version is region free?

Why not include the bonus bluray with the extras on the 2D version? it feels like a cheap attempt to make some xtra bucks, as much as it pains me to say it because I wanted this to be a day one buy for me... I will wait for another version to come out in the future

Of course its to make money. Have you only worked it out now that studios make movies to make money. They arent concerned about what the public wants. If the public wants something bad enough they will buy whatever version they have to. You can see plenty of posts in these threads with people buying the 3d version just for the extras even though they dont need the 3d version. For me i want the 3d version so all good.

I guarantee you will make money by buying the 3d version for 5 bucks more and selling just the 3d disc online

Or you can participate in the BBY U&S sale which HOPEFULLY will happen the week of 10/7 and if that happens, I am sure you have an old DVD sitting around collecting dust...well, why not trade that in and apply the coupon to the 3d version..

OH and like you, I am not happy that the 2d customer got shafted with no bonuses, but this release will be onsale for week #1 of its release, so I will bite the bullet and grab the 3d version...

Thanks for the tips but i don't live in the US so I am not able to enjoy all those offers/trade ins/ebay selling, but I am a patient guy, specially when I feel greedy corps are releasing products with poor customer satisfaction in mind ( you can make fun of me for saying that ) I do love this film so I will get it when they release another version or the price goes down to 20usd. They are still showing it here so I will go see it this weekend to appease my hunger to own it
I am a sucker for extras and extensive making up documentaries on bluray movies and it seems this bluray (3D version) has a lot of cool material.

So you will spend another $10+ to see it at the cinemas but you wont spend that extra amount to buy it?
