Well I think the studios are to blame in that regard by releasing so many new titles as "extended", "unrated", or "directors cut" and then it's like 5 seconds of added violence or blood. People get used to seeing that on the packaging and then cry foul when it's not there even when it's unnecessary.

Wow - fantastic shots of the packaging for this!

Also question - what's going on with the Second Screen app? Is there a code to download it or is it already on the app stores? Cause I can't for some reason find it...

This set is stacked like Kat Dennings.

Gotta reward the effort. Easily worth $30, and I don't even have a 3DTV.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but FOX finally got off their lazy asses and wrote the press release: http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/601...raydvd-release

Btw, it's confirmed now that the 2D set won't have extras.

they do not list the trailers
so some of the extras is missing in the press release

and what is this theatrical cut crap that surely means there will be an extended cut or directors cut right?

I just watched the deleted scenes...

I promised myself I would never say this about anything involving this movie but.. Those last set of deleted scenes are a huge disappointment!

[Show spoiler]Alternative opening my ass, all we got was 10 seconds of other engineers, if not even less. I expected them to say something or to actually do something. What a waste of expectations. Why not just say extended opening?

[Show spoiler]Fiflied attacks is just a different form of him. I mean I like his newer form, but I expected something more in that scene, maybe an inside on how he got there.. I don't know, I didnt think it delivered..

[Show spoiler]The first Alien scene is my favorite from this set, but I hate how we don't know what happened to it!

[Show spoiler]Alternative ending is the same exact ending, why call it alternative? I thought something different might have happened.. I built up so much of my expectations towards it and in the end, all we get is David telling Shaw that paradise exists! I was severely disappointed. I think the only main thing I liked is that Shaw was vulgar and rude to David. Other than that, not really anything there.

I still love the movie,
[Show spoiler] but I guess I expected more from these scenes
..

I've viewed most of the deleted scenes that have popped up online. I can see why Ridley took many of those scenes out, but I honestly think there's a couple that should have stayed in the movie. I think both the Vickers/Janek scene and the expaned Weyland/Vickers scene should have stayed in. They have a lot of great character moments in those scenes that I think the movie would have benefited from. Each time I've seen the movie, I've felt that there was a missing element to Idris Elba's performance - and that scene between him and Charlize Theron is it. The background we get on his character in that scene perfectly informs his decisions in the rest of the film. Still, even if it's not in the movie - it's great to have the scene presented on the set and to be able to factor that material into the rest of his performance.

Likewise, the added material in the Vickers/Weyland scene is wonderful and greatly humanizes Vickers - and also allows us to feel sympathy for Weyland.
