yeah, this is what I'm genuinely curious about. I'm an IT Project Manager who works with data centers for a living. Right now we're producing over 700TB of new data every day. So when I hear that archiving 30TB of data is cost prohibitive I scratch my head and wonder what else is in play.

One of the data storage technologies from IBM we use actually as an Oscar for science & technology specifically related to the ability to store those huge masters.

I definitely trust that there's a good reason they didn't keep the master scan. I'm just wondering what their other requirements are.

No matter what aspect of the production pipeline, compared to others, Netflix is developing a tendency to be way ahead of the technology curve, in this case, what home media content distributors truly need from all studios - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...mf#post9915837

^ Somethings, due to their technical nature, which I don’t think made it onto the Special Features of The Masters in Sex Season Two Blu-ray and doubtfully onto any consumer internet forum , or any forum for that matter, is that the season was shot with a F65 on the studio lot (for the most part) and an HD conform (for editorial) is done directly from the 4K camera raw files, the 4K master is done after the HD conform and grade (Baselight) and a 4K IMF package (which is the finished product target) is then made for future 4K distribution.

Indeed, Fincher’s Gone Girl is Hollywood's, if not the world’s, first 6K DI feature film and also boasts the first feature film 5K DSM

ramicio, no, I haven’t forgotten your particular next-gen passion, so, with that in mind ….shot at 120fps raw (albeit, to be clear, not in 4K, despite the title of this thread), from the Disney Research Zurich folks – http://www.disneyresearch.com/luciddreamsofgabriel/ and also to be discussed at NAB 2015 -

Geoff, Do You Believe in a 2 hr. 4K feature film (not delivered by the likes of Chris Nolan or Quentin T.) having a DCP file size on the order of 379 GB?

Stay Tuned.
Time for me now to catch up on today's Premier League action.

There's a film due soon called Do You Believe?, but it can't be that easy, surely?

As for the fußball, Palace had a great result today. Shame about Sunderland though, they're sinking fast.

You can’t spoil the day for me by posting Prem League results early on this thread, for I’m all caught up with my soccer watching…..e.g. we (Ar----sen---ul.....won!) despite some non-supportive sleepy heads in attendance… https://twitter.com/gower82/status/5...131712/photo/1

the above twitter pic ^ emailed to me, courtesy of an office mate this afternoon since its apparently gone soccer social media viral.

P.S.
PeterTHX, I wanna think that’s you fully awake and smiling at the camera!

Congrats man.

As for my lot, I didn't see many men out there today. Nor did I see any pride in the shirt. We had a 45,000 crowd and 15,000 walked out at half time. If poyet survives this, we are doomed. Of course, burnley won just to make my day complete. Championship here we come.

Burnley seem to be pulling off the sort of results that Gus was getting from your lot last season, what's happened? Would not be surprised if he's out of a job tomorrow.

Mixture of a team of plodders and a manager who is clueless.

it's that weird boring game you european types seem to like for some unknown reason where a bunch of grown men run around for an hour and a half without accomplishing much at all and taking turn pretending to be made of glass.
