I can't believe just how great Steelbooks look in these slips. Even Zavvi steelbook now look like Kimchi/Blufans. I had a bunch of Lenticulars made, primarily for my Marvel, EOT and Transformers movies, they look great in these sleeves. Going to be fun preparing 500 sleeves for my collection...not. I don't know why I paid money for bags previously, these are so much better, plus I don't have to take them out when I display them on my shelf.

I use the bags as temporary protection until I have enough steels to warrant another purchase of the slipcovers. |

Ok, here's some pics and review of VideoGameBoxPreotectors "SteelBook Protective boxes (50 Pieces)". As I mentioned above, the PS3/PS4 and Steelbook protectors they sell are exactly the same.
Shipped from Omaha, NE on Feb. 14, arrived in Los Angeles on Feb. 17. Very quick. Probably would have gotten it yesterday if it wasn't President's Day in fact. They arrived in a big mailer, probably could have been better packed if in a box, but they're all shipped flat, so it's pretty compact on it's own. Came in two stacks, one on top of the other, and each protector having a tissue in between: ![]() Each are flat as I mentioned: ![]() Here it is, ready for storage action mode: ![]() Steelbook slips in nicely: ![]() Nice and snug. This is when I realized there is a side where the plastic is glued together and forms a line, you'll want that opposite of the spine so you don't see it like below: ![]() But, once you do that, the spine looks lovely: ![]() Rear shot: ![]() Standard J-Cards will fit with no issue. These are the cheap flimsy ones: ![]() AND, it will fit these type of J-Cards as well, which are thicker then the flimsy ones, but not quite as thick as the thicker ones: ![]() But, as they mentioned, the thicker cardboarded J-cards won't fit. I got it in about this much before it was too tight and I didn't want to compromise the card or the sleeve: ![]() Similar to unopened steelbooks (with basic or no j-cards), but did seem like it would fit tightly if you took your time to make it's way in there: ![]() And it just happened to fit my Elm Street set perfectly, which some of you may have similar sized bluerays with slips like this: ![]() ![]() My only concern would be numerous use of taking steelbooks in and out could compromise the tabs that could eventually break off over lots of use. But that's not really a big issue since you can just replace a whole sleeve for like $1 anyway, and you'll probably not be constantly opening and closing them over and over. I will do another review and a comparison when I get the SteelbookCentral SCF1 Slipcovers. Thanks again guys, I love these. Last edited by Threat; 02-18-2015 at 10:42 PM. |

Wow, got the other set from UK today. So I ordered both on the 10th and received both within a week and one day. Impressive.
These are the SteelbookCentral SCF1 Slipcovers. I ordered a pack of 10 since I only have a few that have the thicker j-cards. These also came in a mailer, though smaller since it was less than the 50 I got from VGBP. Once open, they came stored in a ziplock bag (also got a few stands): ![]() ![]() Like the previous review I did on the VGBP's, these also came flat, as you can see: ![]() They also all have a peel-away film, covering the entire outer part of the slip: ![]() Once you get that all off, you have a nice and shiny case, ready to go: ![]() The steelbook with the thicker j-card slips in smooth: ![]() And fits perfectly: ![]() Here's the spine: ![]() Rear shot: ![]() You can store bare steelbooks: ![]() However, this is where I would recommend the VGBP's for bare steels as there will be about a centimeter of space in width, which is why these are mainly sized for steels to be stored with thick j-cards. Though, both have about a cm space in depth as well, as pictured below: ![]() Here's a few I boxed which I think look lovely: ![]() ![]() VGBP & SCF1 comparison in next post. Ok, now that I have had the chance to use and review VideoGameBoxProtector and SteelbookCentral fully enclosed slipcovers, here are my thoughts.
VGBP's are definitely easier to fold into shape. The creases where you fold on the SCF1's definitely take a little more work. The VGBP's come with tissue to protect each from scratches, while the SCF1's come with peel-away film. Both serve their prupose, it will just take a bit longer to peel away each case. Other than that, these are pretty identical. I love how both really go together well, so if you're a collector like me where everything has to be the same, I definitely recommend getting both of these if you plan to store a collection like mine: some bare and some with thick j-cards. They both look the same and are both same in height and depth, so storing them together will look flawless. You won't notice a difference in cases (Apes in SCF1 and Guardians in VGBP): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The width is where the main size difference comes in, which is only about a centimeter. This is what allows the thicker j-cards to be stored smoothly: ![]() And since there is that cm of extra space, that's why I would recommend VGBP's for bare steels so you don't have that cm of looseness. But, thicker j-carded steels and unopened steels with the wrapper still on will fit perfectly into SCF1's. Hope that helps. Thanks again guys, these were great purchases ![]() Last edited by Threat; 02-18-2015 at 10:51 PM. |

I see this is an old thread with a ton of pages, but still has some active posters. I am wondering if someone knows of a clear plastic case for steelbooks that is like a slipcover with the tops and bottom opened. Any help is very appreciated!!

My plan is the use SC2's for the vast majority of my collection (500+) then start on the Kimchi, Nova and Blufans Steelbooks. Just had shipping notice on 200 SC2's, hopefully they will arrive on Monday. Then it's the fun task of folding and preparing 200 sleeves and Steelbooks.
***EdDIT*** Just found out that mine will be delivered tomorrow. Next day shipping, superb. Last edited by Blu-Boy in BKK; 02-26-2015 at 08:01 PM. |

VGBP are a bit cheaper I think if you buy 100 comes to about 65 cents per where as Steelbook Central is about $1.00 per cover. I went with 50 SCF1 SteelbookCentral Slips to protect my sealed steels from Zavvi or anything that wouldn't fit in my VGBP's as I feel there more meant for unsealed copies or paper j cards. Only real thing is between sealed and unsealed steelbooks for regular steels and if they cardboard jcards. If anyone needs more picture's just pm me don't want to add a ton of pictures. as you can see the kimchidvd version had no booklet therefore it has quite a bit of space: These are both SCF2 cases ![]() ![]() These are SCF1 cases: ![]() ![]() These are VGBP cases: ![]() ![]() Last edited by WindyCityMike; 02-26-2015 at 06:39 PM. |
