Now when you say hardshell for the HDZ boxed sets, is that going to be unmovable plastic, or the same material? A plastic case would be pretty expensive but my goodness would it look great. I'm not sure of the flexible plastic would work well due to the heavy weight of these sets? Either way thanks for the heads up, and kudos to SBC on the great work. Just wish they would open up a shop in the US! ![]() |

I decided to give SBC a go after I couldn't put my payment through to blu-steels. Didn't want to order too many until I tried them, so I ordered 10 SC2 shells, which are open on one side. They arrived today, and I am very pleased with them. I made one up to try it out, and it fits like a glove on the SteelBook.
So its bye bye blu-steels, hello SBC. |

Enjoy the great variety! They have some new sizes coming in the new year. One of the new sizes will fit the HDzeta Box sets!! |

![]() This may also be useful: ![]() I don't remember the specifics, but in the past, I did a price comparison between their eBay shop vs. their direct online store and I determined going direct was the cheapest option at the time. |

I always make big orders that will last me a long while. I think the bigger order maximizes the value of one shipment. |

Hello - I'm looking for a bit of advice from fellow collectors.
I have quite a few steelbooks in my collection now and I'm looking for something to protect them particularly as I sometimes lend my Blu-Ray's to close family members. I saw these on Amazon... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blu-ray-Steelbook-Protective-Slipcovers-Pack/dp/B017GDKKX0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483597005&sr=8-1&keywords=steelbook+sleeve ... which look like they might do the job of preventing scuffs / scratches if I were ever to lend any of them to my brother for example. Does anyone have experience of using these hard plastic sleeves - do they offer adequate protection without causing damage themselves (I'm concerned that sliding the steelbooks in and out of these sleeves could actually CAUSE scuffing rather than offer protection) ? Advice / better suggestions much appreciated. ![]() |

My suggestion is to take the discs out of the SteelBooks and loan the discs out in a protective case.
Amarays are OK, but I have leftover Blockbuster cases which I use for loaning out movies. No one will take care of the SteelBooks the way you do and loaning them out is a recipe for disaster. No one except you really cares about the packaging anyways and especially if it doesn't belong to them they will never take care of them the way you (we) do. I rarely loan out movies, but when I do, it is disc only. |

I had friends come visit and ask to borrow movies. In the beginning it was hard to say no, but one guy started loading up his arms full of movies as if he was on a shopping spree!
As a result, I have a no-loan policy except for a select few but they are sworn to secrecy. The truth is that no one will love the movies as much as you would. Most people are just after the 'free movie'. It is just too hard to track and remember. I keep a low profile on my movie collecting as a result. |

I'm pretty much the same - I generally have a no-loan policy due to a couple of bad experiences in the past. As you say people just don't seem to care the way I / we do. Either because it is not their own property or because they are not collectors and a BD is "just" a movie to them (i.e. an everyday object to be treated casually that does not require any special care). The only two exceptions to my no-loan policy are my brother and mother because they live in the same house as me (I never let my BDs go to someone outside the house - too much hassle / worry) and I've made them aware of the importance of handling them correctly and storing them properly when not in use (they also know the consequences of failing to look after them ![]() I think with the steelbooks I will go with your advice and just loan out the discs in a regular Amaray case and keep the steel safe in my room. They'll understand (they know how OCD ![]() ![]() |
