Yes, I have many with paint chips and small scratches. It's something you learn to deal with if you open steelbooks. I don't tolerate visible dents though or if I catch a spine slash before unwrapping. Those will get returned. But if I open something and see a tiny, hidden ding, I usually just shrug that off to the hazards of collecting.

What is the best place to order plastic bags to put the steelbooks in? No cases just plastic bags that i can open and close on the backside.

Well, you got 2 choices, there. I have only used SteelbookCentral, so I can't do a comparison between the 2. Over the past 2 years I've ordered around 50 from them. Only 1 had a blemish (one of the welds was a little overzealous and it required me to pull a corner apart leaving a little spot), but not enough to prevent me from using it. They're sturdy, crystal clear, and easy to use.

I used Blu Steels for several years. then one day I couldn't get my order to go through so I tried SteelBook Central. Now, SteelBook Central has become my go to website when I need protective cases. I found that Blu-Steels cases were a little loose, but SC's cases fit like a glove. They also provide cases for several different types of SteelBook packaging, such as slipcovers and lenti's.

I have used at least 500 or more and maybe 10 were wonky.

When it says "snug fit" on the SC2, are we talking "I've gotta tug a bit" to get the steel out or like that of a well fitting slipcover on a normal Blu-ray case?

They're a very snug fit. I've found with most of my collection that I have to squeeze my fingers in either side to try and gently pull it out, or shake it a bit if one dares to do so.

I would also warn anyone who actually wants to watch their steelbooks that most of them won't easily slide back in either. Not without opening the shell case, as the spine of the steelbook catches on the closed inside flap.

Well I guess that settles that, for the chance that a film will be handled and watched, the JC3 is the better option, with the little extra space for the Jcard offering an easier slide. Thanks for the input!

FWIW, I haven't used the SC2 model, but rather the SC3s which are designed to accommodate the j-card. The SC2 clearly indicates it's for steels without a j-card. I prefer to preserve the j-card, so SC3 is the model I prefer. I do access my steels frequently, and I do not have the aforementioned problems sliding them in and out of the SC3s. The j-card stays in place facilitating loading and unloading.

Again, SteelBook Centrals' are the only ones I've used, so I'm not making a comparison, but it is essential you order the correct model for the intended application as they have pretty tight tolerances (which is a good thing).

So how does this compare with the SCF1 model then? That is the one I was looking at getting and I have keep Jcards and want to be able to use the steels and have about a hundred or so I am looking to put in cases, trying to decide best option...

I use the SCF1 model as well. It's a top loader and is full (all sides) coverage. SCF1 accomodates sealed and unsealed Steels with the j-card---just like the SC3. The only difference is that it's a top-loader and full protection. It's what I use when I don't intend to remove the shrink-wrap from the SteelBook.

For example:

Does anyone know if a SW3 from steelbookcentral.com will actually fit a jumbo steel like the hobbit or mission impossible collections?

If you are talking the fat Mission Impossible Collection Steelbook, no - that would be the S6 Jumbo.

Sorry I was referring to the wraps/sleeves not the cases, thank you though. Anyone know about the sw3 sleeves?
