There is no empty space on either side. Perfect fit in an SCF2.
You must be trying to use an SCF3. Fit does not get more perfect.

Leather REVENANT is a perfect fit in SCF4.

(SCF2 is BIGGER than SCF3) --------
SC CASES (Largest to Smallest) SC6 > SCF4 > SCF2 > SCF3 > SCF1 & SC2 (you would think 3 greater than 2 - But it is backward)

Leather REVENANT is a perfect fit in SCF4.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the if I put my Mantas into an SCF2, the top cannot close as the slip pushes it up just a teenie tiny bit. Maybe I got a slightly smaller batch?

Did you pre bend all the joints? (I know it sounds silly, but I work the flaps back and forth so they can make a nice square side.)
Even if some steelbooks protrude ever so slightly - I can still secure the top flap without any significant bowing.
I'm not saying anything you are doing is wrong or that this isn't fitting for you - I'm just sayng that I had no issues myself (and why I wanted to show video of it).
If you cannot seem to make it work for you - the only thing is to use an SCF4 (it will be roomy - but it will work).
As to whether there are batches of sleeves that may run slightly smaller than they should - I can't answer that. But I guess that is possible.

i'm going to be making my first purchase from SC as soon as they get the SC2 sleeves back in stock, but I have a couple questions on other items before i purchase.

what size if any will fit the Walt Disney Treasures DVD tins?

what size will fit the HBO tins for Band of Brothers and The Pacific mini-series?

since I have to pay for international shipping I don't want to forget anything and have to make a separate purchase.

help is definitely appreciated

There is nothing yet for the BoB Or Pacific tins. During a back and forth with some of the guys at SC, we mentioned possible sleeves for Tins, and HDzeta Box sets. SC said they would consider it - and they have announced that NEW sleeves are coming VERY soon. (For which new size, I don't know).
In the Meantime, I just bought Shrinkwrap and a shrinkwrap gun to seal my tins.

I just bought some of the standard G2s from:
http://www.retroprotection.com/Steelbook_c179.htm

They fit all my standard steels w. j-cards sealed/unsealed perfectly. The only thing that concerned me at first is that they close top and bottom, but I shook the hell out of one with a steel I didn't care about and it ain't going anywhere. On the plus side, I like being able to load from the bottom with a top end j-card. Also, I can insert sticker cutouts top and bottom.

They have 3 larger sizes as well and the nice thing about them is that you can order one each (as opposed to a 10-pk minimum on SBC) to try them out. I also like that they have protectors for standard blus with slips.

will the SC6 fit the jumbo metalpaks? I think the pixar Up steel is a metalpak and not a steelbook

SC3 larger than SC2. Ruie of thumb is SC2 for steelbook without slip or J Card, SC3 for Steelbooks WITH slip or J Card. BOTH side loading (with open side)
SC6 is the ONLY size for Jumbo steelbook or Metalpack.

So unfortunately scf2 was not big enough for my Manta kingsman, the sleeve is a little too short and even trying to force it in it wouldn't stay closed. In the picture below you can see that forcing it actually caused the sleeve to chip away some of the slipcover. So now I'm out for 10 scf2 sleeves

This may be a stupid question ,but I have a few steelbooks I want to protect. What kind of sleeves can I buy to protect them? I don't want to use cheap plastic sleeves like other people have recommended. I want to put them on a shelf just like any other blu ray and have them not get scratches. As it is, I already have some scratches on my 22 Jump Street steelbook. I want something durable that can also cover all sides of my steelbook.

It's not a stupid question when you don't know mate. Try these they are very good quality and super fast shipping. I've placed a few orders already. You can order different amounts too.

Not steelbooks, but does anyone know if there odd sized protectors out there for the Criterion/BFI digipaks? I'd love to keep my BFI Napoleon and Criterion's The Freshman looking great, as the packaging for both are made of soft stock that can get a little worn over time. Same for the German Concentration Camps Factual Survey set from the BFI.

Napoleon seems to be around, in inches, 5 3/4 x 6 3/4 x 1. The Freshman is around the same. GCCFS is 5 1/2 x 6 3/4 x 1. I've been looking for something that can handle them, but have been unsuccessful.

Try steelbook Central SCF4 or SCF8
One of those should fit your dimensions.
They give the exact dimesions on the page.
