VGBP's - Buy a ton of these for unprotected steels or steels w/flimsy j-cards
SCF2's - Buy these for most Blufans releases

SCF1's - Buy these for 1/4 slips (I don't have any 1/4 slips currently, I typically only buy full slips and lentis)

I have not found a consensus for Nova Media, Kimchi, or Plain Archive full slips and lentis. It seems the only thing that might work for now is an SCF2, but the fit is poor (too large)?

If anyone knows if SCF1's would work for things like Nova's Edge of Tomorrow lenti slip, I would happily add them to my order but otherwise I don't want to buy them to find out they won't fit. I'm under the impression they are too skinny width-wise. Thanks all!
just a note if you haven't read my posts, but VGBP is slow to ship (typically waits 4-5 days after you pay to ship). if that bothers you, check out http://www.retroprotection.com as they typically ship next day after cleared payment and sometimes same day if possible. i should know more in a couple days if they're the exact same product. the description is the same for both and the pictures, albeit different, look like the same cases. i've got orders coming from both and they should both be here either tomorrow or Tuesday. if they are indeed the same, i'll be going forward with ordering more from retroprotection since they ship faster.

I received a sample SCF1 from SBC and its a perfect fit for Nova Media's TDKR Lenticular sleeve, so it should be fine for EOT, GOTG, LS etc.

Perfect! Thank you. Looks like I will be needing some SCF1's for lentis after all.

I wonder if any of these protectors would fit nicely to the Japanese Ghibli Blu-rays. Not to mention that Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind got the biggest digipack from all. Maybe SCF2 Fully Enclosed would fit? Still waiting any reviews for RetroProtection before I decide.

ok, so here's a quick update without any pictures. RetroProtection vs VGBP: the materials are exactly the same, they're made the same exact way with the glued seam on one side. where they differ is in size. the cases from Retroprotection are about 1mm wider and 2mm taller than the ones from VGBP. i was able to get my Terminator 2 Non Kimchi with full slip and Finding Nemo Viva Metal Box w/ the 3D Lenticular slipcover in the ones from RP but would not fit in the ones from VGBP. if you already have a bunch from VGBP, the size difference might bug some people, but i don't really find the slight extra space from the RP cases a problem even with naked steelbooks.

I really need to venture in to this thread and pick up something better than poly bags for my steels. Thanks for the last couple pages showing pictures and describing which are the best fit for our different steelbook versions.

I ordered 10 SC3 and 10 SCF1 for my sleeved Steelbooks. I will put an order in for a further 250 SC2 when I get paid. As I have said before, it makes a huge difference seeing your favourite Steelbook on shelves, looking uniform in height. They also stand straight without having to lean them like polybags to stop them from falling over.

Just placed two orders, one at Blu-steels for 50 shells and 2 jumbo shells, and one over at steelbook central for 20 SCF2 shells. Hoping these blu-steel shells are as good as everyone says!

Shipped from Omaha, NE on Feb. 14, arrived in Los Angeles on Feb. 17. Very quick. Probably would have gotten it yesterday if it wasn't President's Day in fact.

They arrived in a big mailer, probably could have been better packed if in a box, but they're all shipped flat, so it's pretty compact on it's own. Came in two stacks, one on top of the other, and each protector having a tissue in between:

[Show spoiler]

Each are flat as I mentioned:

Here it is, ready for storage action mode:

Steelbook slips in nicely:

Nice and snug. This is when I realized there is a side where the plastic is glued together and forms a line, you'll want that opposite of the spine so you don't see it like below:

But, once you do that, the spine looks lovely:

Rear shot:

Standard J-Cards will fit with no issue. These are the cheap flimsy ones:

AND, it will fit these type of J-Cards as well, which are thicker then the flimsy ones, but not quite as thick as the thicker ones:

But, as they mentioned, the thicker cardboarded J-cards won't fit. I got it in about this much before it was too tight and I didn't want to compromise the card or the sleeve:

Similar to unopened steelbooks (with basic or no j-cards), but did seem like it would fit tightly if you took your time to make it's way in there:

And it just happened to fit my Elm Street set perfectly, which some of you may have similar sized bluerays with slips like this:

My only concern would be numerous use of taking steelbooks in and out could compromise the tabs that could eventually break off over lots of use. But that's not really a big issue since you can just replace a whole sleeve for like $1 anyway, and you'll probably not be constantly opening and closing them over and over.

I will do another review and a comparison when I get the SteelbookCentral SCF1 Slipcovers. Thanks again guys, I love these.

These are the SteelbookCentral SCF1 Slipcovers. I ordered a pack of 10 since I only have a few that have the thicker j-cards. These also came in a mailer, though smaller since it was less than the 50 I got from VGBP.

Once open, they came stored in a ziplock bag (also got a few stands):

[Show spoiler]

Like the previous review I did on the VGBP's, these also came flat, as you can see:

They also all have a peel-away film, covering the entire outer part of the slip:

Once you get that all off, you have a nice and shiny case, ready to go:

The steelbook with the thicker j-card slips in smooth:

And fits perfectly:

Here's the spine:

Rear shot:

You can store bare steelbooks:

However, this is where I would recommend the VGBP's for bare steels as there will be about a centimeter of space in width, which is why these are mainly sized for steels to be stored with thick j-cards. Though, both have about a cm space in depth as well, as pictured below:

Here's a few I boxed which I think look lovely:

VGBP & SCF1 comparison in next post.

VGBP's are definitely easier to fold into shape. The creases where you fold on the SCF1's definitely take a little more work. The VGBP's come with tissue to protect each from scratches, while the SCF1's come with peel-away film. Both serve their prupose, it will just take a bit longer to peel away each case. Other than that, these are pretty identical. I love how both really go together well, so if you're a collector like me where everything has to be the same, I definitely recommend getting both of these if you plan to store a collection like mine: some bare and some with thick j-cards.

They both look the same and are both same in height and depth, so storing them together will look flawless. You won't notice a difference in cases (Apes in SCF1 and Guardians in VGBP):

[Show spoiler]

The width is where the main size difference comes in, which is only about a centimeter. This is what allows the thicker j-cards to be stored smoothly:

And since there is that cm of extra space, that's why I would recommend VGBP's for bare steels so you don't have that cm of looseness. But, thicker j-carded steels and unopened steels with the wrapper still on will fit perfectly into SCF1's.

Hope that helps. Thanks again guys, these were great purchases
I vote for Threat to be made Op, if they don't mind. With these 3 posts worth of information added and links too.

It's been really tough going through this thread to pick out the best bits of information.

So VGBP is VideoGameBoxProtectors.com? Based in the US but they ship slow so Retroprotection.com also has the same cases and ship faster?

Steelbook Central are based in the UK but ship worldwide. These have more size options? SC2, SC3, SC4, SC6, SCF1, SCF2.

---------------------------------

The ones from VGBP are boxes and fully close?

The SC2, SC3, SC4 and SC6 from Steelbook Central are slips so don't close and have an open side?

The SCF1 and SCF2 from Steelbook Central are boxes and fully close?

---------------------------------

For my Paper J-Carded Steelbooks the VGBP or SC2s work? But if I want it to close, get the SCF1's instead.

---------------------------------

For my Card J-carded and 1/4 slip Steelbooks, the VGBP are a bit too snug so go with SCF1's from Steelbook Central Instead? What about the SC3? are they a as big as an SCF1 but just open instead of closed?

---------------------------------

For my Blufans/Kimchi/Novas only the SCF2's from Steelbook Central will do?

---------------------------------

For Jumbo steelbooks, like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, I'd need SC6's from Steelbook Central?

---------------------------------

Sorry for repeating what others have said. Just trying to consolidate the information and get links before I start buying these.

The cases from VideoGameBoxProtectors and RetroProtection are NOT the exact same. the ones from RetroProtection are about 2mm taller and 1mm wider. my T2 non-kimchi exclusive with slipcover wouldn't fit in the ones from VGBP, but fit fine in the ones from RetroProtection. aside from the slight size difference, they're the same material and made the same way. i decided that since i had already ordered so many from VGPB on the first order, and due to the slight size difference, i'm going to finish out the rest of my orders with VGBP for all my naked steels and use the ones from RetroProtection for any steels i get with slipcovers.

My Grandmothers knit group can crochet custom protective covers for a decent price. There are like 75 ladies in her assisted living home. I only have like 5 SB, but she made it so you could see the cover and it has a button slot on the back so its fully encased.

And we all know how soft cotton is against steel. She says $2 a cover.

So I decided to just get the SCF1s for all my steelbooks that aren't bigger sets. Works out much cheaper to ship them to the US if you buy 100.

100 shipped = $0.89 per case
50 shipped = $1.26 per case
30 shipped = $1.27 per case
20 shipped = $1.47 per case.

Also picked up 20 of the SCF2s. They only sell in 10s so had to grab 2x 10s but saved $4 on shipping when checking out. Worked out to $1.80 per case.

Just placed my first order with blu-steels... dat shipping! Should have sent it to my German relatives who are visiting soon... oh well!

Bought 25 covers, and the Underworld Quadology... because it's Underworld! And Kate Beckinsale

Don't normally feel good about $70.... but for FOUR blu rays(1 being 3d) and the peace of mind that my steelbooks will be safe?

Very nice!

Well, the countdown begins! Update us when it arrives. I plan to place an order soon and was thinking about getting in a nice big order to maybe do a GB to help any members out, but all the trouble Liz had in the last GB makes me a little bit hesitant to pull the trigger.
