I'm gonna have to get some more sleeves as well, I'm down to 3-4 left

what sort of comic book sleeves would work with the Jumbo steels? I may have to try that out. Got any pics?

New to steelbook collecting and protecting. Any information about the basics of protecting them would be useful to me.

What is considered to be the best option for sleeves for Blu-ray steelbooks? I saw some listed in the earlier pages of this thread that were like $6 w/ free US shipping. Would those sleeves fit most standard size steelbooks or are they too tight (some people had problems or was that only because they bought the slim ones)? For the Disney steelbooks would they fit with the back insert included or just the steelbook by itself? Also I could use some help on what sleeve would work best on the jumbo Up and Monsters Inc steelbook cases?

The shop4tech.com website charges $22.00 for shipping to Canada.

Anyone got a cheaper alternative.

I bought some of fleabay but they are pretty tight.

Was looking for slightly bigger ones.

Yes I do, this one was my very first attemt and I used the sticker on the sleeve, now I just fold it back and put a piece of tape.

Cheers,

One question is the white strip at the back of the sleeve always that thick as seen in the pics?

Ah ok.

Does the sleeve have its own adhesive strip or did you have to use your own tape?

Thanks for the reply

It does have a small adhesive but the flap is long so I just fold over and tape, but I guess in all technicality you could cut some of the flap off and use the strip for perhaps a more flush look. I love these because they are glossy in the sense that not only are they clear but for reason they just add an extra shine to the steel. IMO. Snug fit tho, doubt it would fit a steel with a slip cover.

Well, I had bought 100 of the Shop4Tech Bags, but since I'm going the route of re-shrink wrapping my steelbooks, I will only need to keep a couple for movies I watch frequently.

So if anyone needs any bags in smaller quantities, I will let them go at my cost. It is $.06 per bag + $.12 for the envelope + actual shipping costs to wherever you are, US or Canada. For just a few bags, it should only be $.44 for a 1st class stamp (US). Payment by Paypal Gift.

Just send me a PM with how many you want and I'll get you a total.

Maybe I should buy ziplock bags or one of those lunch ones and store my Steelbooks in it.
Walmart here I come

I think Sb protection is a bigger issue if you handle/leave them out (off the shelf) often and/or have a lot of them such that they are next to each other on the shelf.

Neither is the case for me for now. So, although hardly as sexy and with no disrespect intended to collectors, I'm doing something more practical: I'm repurposing some old LP and LD jackets by cutting them--using a razor blade and straight edge for a clean, straight cut--to a size of my choosing.

I can seal and re-seal with tape if I cut them large enough to include flaps. But for now I've cut the plastic closer to the dimensions of the Sb, leaving them open at the top and one side and inserting the Sb with the spine facing the open side for access and legibility on the shelf.

Again, not as sexy, but free and versatile.

The shop4tech bags won't fit with a slipcover inside the bag. I open my steels, so I just put them in a bag, and then I put the slipcover over it.

I cut the bags just above the adhesive strip, and it seals right on top of a blu-ray SteelBook for a cleaner look than simply folding it over and using scotch tape. It is also a snap to open and re-seal.

I took mr. b's advice and cut the top close to the adhesive strip, and it looks nicer than folding over and using tape.
