Just received my "coming soon" flyer for The Jungle Book at the El Capitan.

They're now advertising Dolby Vision 3D.

I don't like scones. But I do love a nice hot cup of Rosy Lee though.

You don't like scones? How very dare you!

Yeah, I can't function without a cup of tea. Now, give me a 4K film, tea and scones with cream and jam and I am one happy Punter!

What 4K release are you looking forward to most Geoff?

Of the movies released thus far none are really floating my boat in terms of OMG I MUST SEE DAT IN FORKAY!!! (either because they're proper 4K finishes but shit films, or films that I really like but are upscaled 2K) but I'm really looking forward to Groundhog Day in 4K.

We got groundhog day on netlfix in 4k now. Always loved the movie. Looks pretty good in 4k on netlfix. The outdoor scenes look great. Crazy watching it with so much detail. Though it's a tad grainy and darker scenes aren't as good, but overall a thumbs up.

AFAIK it wasn't shot IMAX.

They also advertise it in Atmos, which of course is better than the max IMAX 12 channel.

Foxes and Eagles, I like it. No sign of any Black Cats though...

The new IMAX laser projectors, are more about Dolby Vision HDR with Dolby Atmos.

Hard to say if I agree with the Atmos vs IMAX 12 channel. I agree the tech behind Atmos is probably a better experience for the mixer, but with IMAX you are mixing to a completely controlled and consistent playback system. With Atmos you never know what one setup is going to be from another, and I've been in quite a few Atmos theaters and all of them have varied in quality considerably (I've seen a number of films multiple times for comparison). I've seen 4 movies now in IMAX 12 channel and all of them have sounded VERY good. Very well balanced, great bass and fantastic sense of immersion from all around.
