Default What happened to Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown?

According to a blu-ray.com article, they were planning on releasing them on the 4th of August. Now I guess they are just sitting in limbo like Dr.Strangelove did for half a year. Anyone know whats going on with this?

Delayed so they can coincide with the home video release of Inglorious Basterds.

Also, a quick search next time, please. There are several threads on this already:

I love Pulp Fiction but I hate Jackie Brown, it's so awful and boring.

How can someone who owns the Departed say that about Jackie Brown? Let me guess, you've only seen it once, right?

If you think you hate it and you think it's boring and you've only seen it once, then, I know you. I used to be you.

It seems as though most of his movies belong in the "don't hold your breath" catagory.

If one thinks it's a bad movie, watching it again is not going to change that opinion.

That's something pulled out of your ass. People may not "get" a movie when they first watch it, or maybe one thing doesn't click with them, or maybe they were in a bad mood when first watching it, but you can (and I have) easily not like a film the first time, or vice versa, and then change your opinion on multiple viewings.

Way to get personal and nasty.

You really showed me.

Look, the insinuation is that if you didn't like 'Jackie Brown' then you must have watched it wrong, or something, and watching it again is going to change your mind. I totally disagree. A second serving of feces tastes just as bad as the first... or so I'm told.

I'm the opposite-- Jackie Brown-- great characters, involving story, entertaining film

Pulp Fiction-- foul people, foul language, foul movie!!

I think 'Pulp Fiction' is a must-have classic... it should have been released on blu a loooooong time ago.

LOL. I'd just like to say that you're adding 'or so I'm told' really drives the point home. Okay all childishness aside, your comment proves your point! Your first post was crap, and your second one was just as bad! Jackie Brown is a fantastic movie. If you don't like it, because you thought it was boring, had too much cussing, too much sex, or whatever the case, so be it. However, you can't deny the fact that some real talent went into its production. I absolutely despise country music, but I acknowledge the fact that at least the majority of country singers have immense talent; otherwise they wouldn't have a job. Calling Jackie Brown feces? Way to lose all credibility in one post.

It's an opinion, dude... one that I never associated with swearing, boring, or sex. I did not think it was a good movie, in fact I thought it was extremely lame, and repeat viewings are not going to change that.

I will agree only that if you're not into the great and witty conversations that blanket about 75 percent of a Tarantino film, then yeah, I could see it being lame. Pulp Fiction, if you'll remember, was filled with the same type of dialogue, just on a broader spectrum, as it had a much more colorful cast. Jackie Brown, IMO, is a perfect homeage to the blaxploitation movies of the 70s, while incorporating the fact that in today's day and age, it's pretty washed up. At least that's how I took the many conversations between Pam Greer and Robert Forster's characters. I think what CJWilkie was trying to say, in context to Jackie Brown, is that yes, it's slow. Not much action at all. It depends on the likability of the characters and the witty dialogue. What he means is that if you went in blindly expecting another Pulp Fiction, then perhaps you should watch it again, knowing now what kind of movie it is. I have done this with several movies; loving them more the second or third time around.

Sorry for the harsh words before, mjbethancourt. No hard feelings?

No hard feelings.

I don't think 'Brown' stacks up to 'Fiction' at all, and that opinion is not on the basis of the dialogue in the two movies. I enjoy 'Pulp Fiction' for much, much more than just dialogue, and I think 'Brown' is an example of Tarantino going with the popular feedback that his "witty" dialogue is what carries his movies, while for me that is not the case; so we have a movie with the same type of dialogue, but not nearly as entertaining of a show. I think he milks a one-note formula of stylized dialogue and pastiche, without much regard to the overall quality of the product... that is why I find his movies to be very "hit-and-miss", I've only liked three of them (Fiction, Kill Bill, and to a lesser extent, Reservoir Dogs).
