Caved and rented it from Blockbuster (plenty available) and that is as far as I'll cave. I don't know what would have made me think differently but first impressions aren't always etched in stone so I gave it another go after not really liking it in the theater.

Too bad because this is a reference BD for quality IMHO as there is lots to like but my song remains the same about the movie itself!

I agree, I think the movie is awful, so Im just netflixing this one. Arriving today. I refuse to spend $20-30 on a movie this bad. It's just not nearly good enough for me to want to watch it multiple times. Ill watch it this once on BD, return it, and if for some unknown reason I ever want to watch it again ill netflix it again. Money saved, crap movie not taking up space in my collection that only contains great movies.

My favorite part of the review, which also makes me ask my question from above again... "No doubt the future double dip will sport a better transfer, and better bonus features." I can respond to that in three words: no, no shit.
Ya I just came across this and was going to post about it. There goes whatever credibility that reviewer had out the window. To think some people will probably take his word on it too.

I picked this up last night at my local Bestbuy.

The case is definitely cheap, the eco-friendly version. Asked one of the employees if they had a different version and he said no. Ended up just swapping out the case with some old blu-ray movies I had just laying around.

Excited to watch this again, don't remember the first time I watched it but I remember enjoying the movie.

Why bother re-watching a movie you know you can't stand?

I thought this movie was great and a perfect bookend to Royale.

Sometimes I get bored and will be willing to give a movie another shot a while later. This is a big reason why I have netflix, so that I dont go out spending my money on movies that I dont love, especially in this economy. I only purchase the absolute best ones, then netflix the rest.

Of course I know of plenty of movies much worse than QoS, but compared to Casino Royale, and all the other BDs I own, it's bad. I didnt find the story remotely interesting, I could not tell what was going on in the action scenes due to .5 second cuts, and there was just nothing endearing about the movie at all. Very bland.

lol seriously. Just a bunch of haters. Do everyone a favor and just don't post saying how "bad" this movie was and that you won't be "buying this piece of crap".

Move on

It got lots a praise from this site and a whopping 4.7 movie review...so I was ready to go. After watching it......it was just ok. The action was fast paced...but the consistency and pace of it was not believable..(I know this is James Bond, but it got old) There were elements of the movie that I liked, but I just thought they could have been done better....and what was with that horrible opening song? There was some really bad acting in this too...not by the main characters....

If this site would have given it a rating of 2.0 I would be defending it, but 4.7 is way too high for this film...it doesnt even touch Casino Royale. Im not sure if I will watch this one again.
Look at the all the full 5-star, no-detail reviews for it with on this site by "New Members" with 0 posts. I think David Manning is back in action full-force with this one. They should have a minimum post limit for doing reviews, like forums have before new users can post links to keep the shills out.

Whatever you want to do is fine. I don't understand why folks are so concerned as to what others are planning to do with this or any other movie. I didn't like it initially and I tried it again regardless with a rental. I also rent some things and never end up watching it!

Agreed. I saw this for free in theatres and I still felt like I should get my money back. LOL. But hey...to each his own.

I don't remember the movie being that bad...

I remember it not being as good as Casino, but I still remember thinking that I would buy it when it came out.

Some of you guys have me doubting myself now!

It's not a terrible movie to be sure, but in comparison to Casino Royale it's seriously underwhelming. This time around the plot is middling, villains unthreatening, women boring and action way too Bourne-emulating. Craig continues to be the bright spot, but there's pertty much nothing for him to do here but jump from one action scene to the next. I did really like the final scene with him and M, though.

The disc is pretty impressive though, tech-wise.

I think the movie would of been great if the director hadn't ruined the experince with his fast cuts for the entire moive. We are not talking about action sequences or heavy use of fast cuts, we are talking the ENTIRE moive is fast cut (every scene, every second).

I loved Casino Royale, might even be my favorite bond movie. I have no problems with the new bond or new style of bond.

I have no problems with fast cuts in action sequences. They are ok too.

The problem I have is when the ENTIRE MOVIE is fast cut. The director might of throught he was being clever doing something new for the first time but it takes away from the moive in my opinon. I feel cheated/robbed of what could of been a good follow up to Casino Royale if the director hadn't ruin the experince.

With that being said I will be giving it another shot when netflix sends it to me but I doubt I can ignore the fast cuts enough to enjoy the movie.

Just watched it last night, WOW I can't believe the hate towards this movie it was a really good movie and the BLU it self was TOP NOTCH all the way around, It wasn't on par with Casino Royale but it was the perfect way to follow up Casino Royale, The movie moved at a good paced considering the story was already in place (thanks to casino) ITs not nearly as bad as people make it out to be..

NOTE: if you are interested in watching the movie watch casino royale first, most of the story is connected to everything that happened in casino

I think on its own the movie is decent at best, but as a follow up to the very excellent Casino Royale, the movie is pretty poor.

The story just doesn't seem to lead anywhere interesting. The villain is hardly a villain at all. There's 1 sex scene very oddly shoe-horned into the middle of the movie. The other female lead just doesnt make any sense to me. I dont understand what her purpose was in this movie.

The whole thing was very poorly written and disjointed. The locales arent as gorgeous as the last movie, the action scenes are just annoying to watch with the half-second cuts.

I basically hated everything about this movie, but it's still sort of watchable just because of Daniel Craig. He plays a good Bond and is the only redeeming quality in this movie. Everything else is just lame. Thats just my opinion. I dont like every movie I watch and am VERY picky. I only like the best of the best, the rest gets thrown in my netflix queue if it is anything less than amazing. Others are better able to like more movies, so I can understand why some like it.

While I saw the movie for free, I went in expecting to be disappointed and was pleasantly surprised that the movie, while not as good as Casino Royale, was nowhere near as bad as made out to be by reviews I'd read. I bought it yesterday purely to go with Casino Royale and would not have as a standalone film. Added bonus was the $5 coupon inside, which I combined with a hard-fought-for $20 BB gift card obtained in the Resident Evil 5 TRU price match to get Goldfinger for basically free.

Damn you, you quoted me before I fixed parts of my post! Should have spell checked that one.

lol

Anyway, I dont want to be too hard on it, Im just dissapointed after Casino Royale being as great as that was. I would rather watch QoS than plenty of other movies out there, trust me. It's not the worst movie ever made, I just think its one of the worst Bond movies, and not only that, but it's following up one of the best. It was doomed from the start.

My copy should be here today and I'm looking forward to watching it. It seems like people either hate it or love it.
