This from a long time fan of all Bond films.
I watched CR last night, again, so I can watch QoS either tonight or tomorrow night.

You folks need to practice yourself what you preach since the latest posts within the forum itself shows disrespect, questioning one's comprehension, etc. etc.

I agree that QoS is not a bad film but it just didn't blow me away like Casino Royale or other fine Bond films.

I agree with a lot of people saying that it felt more like a formula of Bourne or other spy films but that being said it was a well done film.

I purchased it and if you watch Casino Royale and then QoS back to back then I am hoping that it will be a great experience.

I got it from Netflix last night. It's the first time I got a new release blu-ray that I didn't have to wait a long while for. I thought the film was brilliant! The image quality is as good as Casino Royale imho. Only thing I didn't care for was the theme performed by Jack White and Alicia Keys.

This is exactly what I plan to do. I watched The Bourne Identity and Supremacy 48 and 24 hours, respectively, before seeing Ultimatum on opening night. It worked out to perfection.

Well if you say that Olga Kurylenko's character has nothing to do with the plot, that's a major comprehension issue. It's VERY clear what her character has to do with the plot on every level and while you're welcome to post your opinions, if your opinions reveal that you lack comprehension skills you should fully expect to be called on it. It's nothing personal. Just about the movie and what is being said about it.

I rewatched this last night and realised that the story didn't go in another direction like some have said when it first came out. Greene was just another stepping stone to get to Quantum just like Le Chiffre. At the end Greene spilled his guts about them so in the 3rd one hopefully coming out we'll see them get involved with Quantum

I had seen Quantum at the theatre and it didn't seem as compelling a story as Casino Royale.

I picked up Quantum on Blu and watched it last night. My opinion of it rose a lot on second viewing. At the theatre, I missed some of the overall plot. I now understand the movie much better.

I guess I still think Casino Royale was better but I am happy that I own both.

In all honesty, I think this was a big problem with the film for many people. My sister in-law saw it at the theater and did not really like it. After I watched it, and really enjoyed it, I asked her why she disliked QoS and she told me that it was just all over the place and Bond just seemed angry

I then asked her if she saw Casino Royale and she told me "no".

My sister-in-law is college educated and is fairly intelligent but I think the movie was moving too quick for her and she did not have the proper context as to why Bond was doing what he was doing. And I think that same rule applies to some people in this thread that did not get the movie.

Because of the Bond movie cash I saw this movie with my father-in-law and four brother-in-laws and all of us got the movie and really enjoyed it. Nobody was disappointed. But all of us had seen CR several times and "got it".

Good post. I didn't have a problem following the movie as I already had seen Casino Royale. In fact, I took Bill Hunt's advice and re-watched it the week before seeing Quantum of Solace.

Good point. I've seen CR about eight times and QoS twice, and I'm still finding new things in QoS that I didn't notice before.

While I thought the movie itself was good, even upon multiple viewings I still abhor Marc Forster's directing style for action. Yes the movie flows well from CR, yes Daniel Craig is a totally awesome Bond, yes there is plenty to like about this move...but YES for me it was almost ruined by the action shots right from the opening car chase when I thought I was watching Bourne on cocaine.

While I don't agree with this article, Maddox's assesment of Quantum of Solace (or Quantum of Phallus as he calls it) is pretty funny satire if you don't mind a bit of colourful speech.

Agree with above post. No issues with the story or plot, I saw it as an continuation of CR. That damn opening theme was disappointing. I like both artist but it should have been a solo endeavor by Alicia Keys.

IMHO, the story/plot was thin. Also, The movie was overly reliant on the approach for the action sequences and it was quite clear it was his first attempt at action film making. Maybe call it "Quantum Of Speed"?
